Having tried to create a witness puzzle pack myself, I can assure you they chose quality over quantity. Trying to explain a new mechanic without making it either cryptic or patronizing is nigh impossible, and they did it 8+ times.

I think most "Programming 101" classes _have_ ditched C. I haven't heard of any current intro classes being taught in C.

Debug and release builds probably call slightly different sets of methods, so they might end up with slightly different heaps. That might be enough to cause a difference in offset between the builds.

Given the degree of changes required in some codebases, I think some teams would rather treat it as a rewrite job. Even moving large enterprise codebases from python 2 to python 3 is taking so long they had to push that deadline back years.

A notable exception to this is uranium and modded Factorio. In particular, Angel's Petrochem has a bunch of those loops. If you're interested in trying it I recommend Factorio SeaBlock.
