Why haven't you built out appstoredata.net ? Seems like a useful service.

Someone please conduct of study (double blind, sample size 4, whatever) of kids that practiced algebra with dragonbox vs those that didn't, on their performance of an algebra test. Would be interesting to see if they perform better, and the

It depends on the type of startup, doesn't it? You may need someone to knock down doors and get sales or deals done. Take for example Hipmunk. Their beautiful UX counts for nothing if they don't have flight data. And to get that data, they

That isn't what natural talent is supposed to be though. You're good at programming Perl probably because you've practiced more, or you care more and thus have thought about it more. Software writing is a skill which you have honed by pract

Not sure if you were being sarcastic? My point was, skill and hours practiced are far better predictors of success than a voodoo attribute like natural talent. In the above case, I tried to use height as an example of a "natural ability" pe

Not sure what your point is, with due respect. Everyone wants to hire master engineers, but it's not like master engineers are available for hire.

of course natural talent exists Well then, what is natural talent, how do you objectify and measure it in a person, if it so obviously exists? Success is best correlated with time invested in skill development. Natural talent is bullshit,

I hope most people know by now that "natural talent" isn't real. See books: Outliers, The Talent Code

I don't think a sale to Facebook makes much sense at all. While FB wants their own phone, they don't even know if they can be successful with it, and I don't think they want a hemorrhaging phone business on top of that.

Yes, you can make money off apps. Niche, targetted apps at certain segments is probably the easiest way (as opposed to mass market products like Angry Birds, Instagram, etc.) I started app development 6 months ago and had to learn programmi

RIM's smartphone market share is rapidly falling, they're doing mass layoffs, and they're slow to the market. The pressure from Android distribution and iPhone demand just creates a very difficult environment for RIM.

I like to follow a bunch of local startup entrepreneurs on twitter, especially if they tweet good links and content. Also follow a bunch of CEO's / leaders of startups in your industry, and any "celebrity" techies like Mark Cuban, Kevin Ros

That's kind of bullshit, you've focused more on what he decides to call himself rather than what he has accomplished. Are Eric Scmidt / Larry Page are no longer "real engineers" because they manage, and not code anymore? And yes, blogging a

I don't know that your assumptions on margins is accurate. Triple-A titles have a ton of art, sound, and gameplay value that seems costly to produce. Mobile games pricing however, is largely based on cheap consumers who for whatever reaso
