Bank websites in some (developed, European) countries restrict you to 6-8 digit passwords (not alphanumeric), and don't have a 2FA option like Facebook or Google do. It's a massive joke.

I thought this was important to post here, given the amount of people that claim to have switched to Linux Phones after Apple's CSAM debacle. The author recommends using mainstream iOS/Android or GrapheneOS on Pixel Phones. Here&#

These systems rely on the premise that catching p dos and putting them out of circulation does* protect children, since many children are abused by relatives and such. I think it's a reasonable assumption!

I think it's just sad that Apple will now likely be forced to switch to server-side scanning, which they've explained is strictly inferior to their client-side proposal (and which I wrote about here: https://news.ycombi

It's quite commonly accepted that stopping the spread of CSAM reduces demand, which has an effect on supply, and directly saves some children's lives from trafficking.

I fail to see any difference, when your data is as much "yours" whether cloud backup is turned on or off. Google and others scan data stored in Drive (and other cloud storage) not just for CP, but for copyright infringement, etc;

The Windows 11 store is such a better experience, basically acting like a user-friendly package manager that doesn't arbitrarily restrict which apps can be on it based on runtime or whatever. Why can't I have Chrome in the Mac App

I strongly considered switching away from Apple products last weekend; but this document has convinced me otherwise. The threats people identify have minimal risk. If a total stranger offers you a bottle of water, you may worry about it bei

No, it wouldn't. I can hit you on the head with a hammer, and you'll function poorly in every conceivable performance test (low dimensionality), but success is high-dimensional. Here is a good explanation: https://twitt

When did I say this was a 100% soy burger? > Those labels are because the compounds could trigger a soy allergy ...because it contains soy, which has negative effects on fertility. That was my whole point. So why change the subject?

by concinds 9y ago
Why would it mention soy? The article only brings up what I said it brought up, the fertility decline. Soy protein does blunt testosterone production. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/10/131010091557
