Absolutely. I've seen the Shenmue video and it's stunning. It's more impressive than anything that launched on the PS1 or N64. >I sometimes wonder what could have been had Sega released proper documentation and a decent de

Except unlike smartphones, the PS1/N64 did not support VM or even had any storage to page to. So no, it's not the same.

Pretty awesome. Goes to show the great lengths taken even on state of the art hardware at the time. And the PS1 wasn't even the worst of it. The Sega Saturn and N64 were both considerably more difficult to develop for. And the PC marke

Not so sure about this. Most mobile games are developed with Unity. And what appear to be the cutting edge titles are usually using the Unreal engine. There's not much "to the metal" coding going on. Besides, most mobile game

Sounds like the same argument that the threat of terrorism makes it really hard to support civil liberties and personal privacy. Same old rhetoric. Pretty scary that a growing number of people seem to share the same opinion.

True. I wasn't specifically talking about hate speech though. I was talking more about launching a site/app/business or spreading an idea. More often these happen entirely through a few closed channels (social networks, Reddi

No one is forcing you go to (\d)chan. Hate speech is an easy target. But the censoring and anticompetitive practices have spread further than that. Google, Apple, Facebook, can change their ToS to bring down potential competitors. They can

Freedom of speech does not apply here. Reddit is not a forum owned by the public, it's a business. Reddit is within their rights to remove any content as they see fit. Yeah, people complain once they realize walled gardens like Reddit

I agree here. Apple is indeed early to the game with the Apple Watch, and they're putting more clout behind it than other OEMs. Remember, Apple was incredibly late to market with the product that saved them from eventual bankruptcy: th

For game devs, hopefully we can look forward to Swift support in Unity then. C# and Booscript are fine, but I'd welcome a language that puts the tool closer to iOS development.

I'm curious which years you were at Google? The bottom-up culture has been dead for the past 2 years, and a deluge of projects were canned in the past 12-18 months. There's really zero chance now of starting your own project at G

His argument is hearsay. There's no conclusive evidence that a stack-based VM will always perform worse than a registered based one. There are tradeoffs between both designs. With all of the optimizations you see from register based VM
