Yes. .net now has self contained builds. The whole deploy can be a single executable with some caveats.

Felt that way in my 20s. Married a girl and bought a house and those feelings went away. But...if you don't want to do those things don't renew your lease and go travel. Do some risky stuff while your out there. You never know who

This is nonsense. They say there have been 5k deaths after taking the vaccine then say trust us it's 100 to 200 times higher. The vaccine is killing more people then covid! This trash article doesn't belong on hn.

That nuance does matter which is why we are still having the discussion. Teams can pick which style they want but mixing is unnecessary overhead and when you're talking about 10s or 100s of solutions I'd like the style to match ac

Probably for the same reason your employer does. Not saying it's fair to discriminate against people who have paid their debt to society but I wouldn't be crazy about having a rapist or murderer neighbor.

Guess we have to turn human evolution back on. Could this be the cause of the childless dystopia we see in books and movies?

No it's not. In a lot of places if you're the home owner you can do your own everything.

The best programmers I know didn't go to college. It's been my experience that degrees and standardized test don't tell you jack about how well someone will do a job.

When your backend is sql how can you even do this efficiently? Databases require indexes. If you can query anything then there are performance bombs all over the place. It's different if you're querying elastic I guess.

I feel like you have the right to free speech. You don't have a right to a platform though. If you want to spread your hate person to person go for it. We're not going to broadcast your nonsense to the world.

Generally the details have been sorted out at some level otherwise how did you estimate it? And the ticket was likely estimated 2 months ago and you may not have been a part of that. I prefer a ticket with as much detail as possible so I&#x

If you don't know the performance requirements of something you're about to build you should gather that before you build it.

I've always thought computer science should just be in the math department. Software engineering uses concepts from CS but in my experience it's far apart.

They likely put a program on the build server to make the changes after checkout before build. Which would be impossible to detect.

This sounds like a child wrote it. You should hire smart people who get shit done. Hire craftsmen. The whole thing about caring about the company is a joke without real equity. If you care about your work and do a good job then that is your

There are definitely the right tools for the right job. I work in enterprise on applications that will run for decades. It makes no sense for us to sacrifice long term maintainability to ship something fast.

I've learned you're better off building software that matches exactly what you need right now and change it over time as requirements change. These tools are great for a prototype but you pay the debt in the future. This is coming

They should lose their ass for this. It hurts the reputation of small restaurants when the food isn't good and it might not even be their fault. Shouldn't there be some kind of health code rules for food delivery?
