I lean towards building it to the exact known specification and don't worry about how it's going to change. If you write tests you can refactor anything.

I rebuilt my side project in Vue. It's meant to be an API generation tool for .NET Core. Basically provide a swagger definition and it generates a ready to run solution based on that definition. Still working through the details but it

I use a Mac. I spun up a windows server image on AWS and I've been doing all of my development on that. It's cheap if you turn it off and it has snapshots. And it's available from any machine with remote desktop.

I think everybody has to learn this lesson. Treat it like a learning experience and you haven't lost anything but time hopefully. Earlybrd.io is currently down and I wanted to check it out. Hug of death.

I don't think they knew in this case they were potentially trading on margin. The broker didn't know either which is crazy.

That is the point I was trying to make. Basically if you're in the business of producing or buying and selling the commodity the futures are for you. If you're just speculating how does that help anybody? I guess you could make th

Wasn't the original purpose of futures to let farmers and others lock in prices early so they can mitigate risk? Speculation on futures seems dumb if you have no intention of taking delivery.

How do people die from an economic slowdown? Maybe in poor countries but I don't think in a developed country an economic slowdown should kill anybody.

I worked in COBOL at an internship and this was around 2012. This system runs over 1000 court systems in the U.S. It's graphical too and sort of looks like vb6 on the frontend. It was a nightmare to work in even though the team was dis

I'm curious what a Jenkins + Octopus system is missing that your system provides. Most companies would have a hard time justifying the expense to build a bespoke system just for devops.

I've never seen it solved. You either write and test migration scripts to roll it back or you restore from a backup. Idk what you do if you add a new column that's populated in the new version and you rollback. I guess this would

It's because the owner of this patent is a patent troll who sues companies out of existence for building what you're talking about. https://patents.google.com/patent/US7062502 https://www.theregist

I'm not saying these aren't important but for most developers this stuff is rarely going to be used. Most "developer" jobs are not math heavy. I'd rather push someone to learn how to write clean code and focus more

There are lots of complicated answers here. All you need is to be able to build scales and chords using the circle of 5ths. Just learn how to write out the notes for a scale like E major. Then learn how to write out the notes for all of the

Considering what we've accomplished in the last 100 years I think it's easy to say that within a billion years we could develop the technology to simulate and create life. The question is would it take a billion years or a million

There is a patent troll who owns creating a frontend from a database. He's successfully sued Microsoft and Oracle and put a code generation product out if business. So I'd tread carefully there.

I did COBOL for two years out of college. It is the most frustrating and terrible language to work in. We weren't using it on a mainframe we were using it to build GUI apps that run on client machines. I would spend days writing code t
