I’m wanting to build a documentation tool for tech teams. There are many but I have various problems with each of them. I just want some quick and easy markdown based docs. One thing stopping me, for some reason, is building a user system.

That’s what Utah plans to do but there is currently a federal law that prohibits the use of permanent DST. Utah, California, and a couple other states have asked the federal government to change that law and I believe there are plans to con

There’s a small (5 acres maybe) field by me where the farmer keeps horses. He moves the horses from one half of the field to the other and grows hay in the opposite side. I see him cut it down and bale it about twice a year. Looks like it’s

This article suggests that the twitter thread about the boat ride was just a story that could be told. If so, it's harmless, but I'm left wondering, is it true?

There are so many projects that I think would show up in these searches. Things like “package bomb” when searching for the YouTuber who made glitter and fart bombs into cardboard packages, set them on his porch, and waited for thieves to st

I recently saw headstones with photos on them. Now I’m thinking about writing a bunch of stuff and encoding it in a QR code on a headstone. The QR code is likely to be replaced with something else, but maybe if it says “QR Code” under it th

There was a post here on hacker news of a service that would convert a static page and contain the entire page in a URL. That, in turn, could be converted to a QR code. I didn’t notice if it relied on something like bit.ly to store data, bu

Are you saying we're way past the point where encryption could be restricted from export in the U.S.? Because encryption exports are controlled and when I first started programming they were completely illegal. Every once in a while ne

I can’t help but wonder if encryption export controls will be slipped into this mess. Seems like a good place to hide them but I don’t have time to drudge through this at the moment.

There's money in confusion... I'm terrified of using the existing cloud services for personal projects. For business projects you can mostly just get an idea of how much your month-to-month bill will increase with certain actions,

I have a 15 year old Wi-Fi Brother Laser that is still going strong. I’ve replaced toners a few times and the drum once. I’m sure it will last another 10 years. They still sell a brand new model that is almost identical.

My favorite deploy is using a simple `git pull` instead of scp. I also avoid complex build tools when I can. You either need your built files in the repo or you need to avoid them. Either are fine for my small personal projects. The only re

I was just reading about Cuba the other day. It seems that only the captain can leave the ship there until all passengers are cleared. I presume he needs to take their passports with him. That creates a bit of a catch-22 here.

I’ve seen a stat that most cars only last 10 years in the US. If that’s because we crash or destroy them than the problem is almost non-existent. I own a 25 year old truck but they aren’t very common, so I assume that’s just anecdotal. I’m

I think this would be against the law in the U.S. (although probably hard to prosecute). After looking through a few of these, however, it looks like most of them are in other countries, so different laws apply.
