That's not true. Google seamlessly supports both HTTP and HTTPS, and many other sites do too through simply using // as the protocol.

They still fail to understand that using Unicorn doesn't magically fix this issue. Like, at all. It simply means that the dunk gets tied up when n+1 requests (n is number of unicorn workers) get randomly routed to it instead of just 1. It's

That makes no sense. UDIDs are fundamentally flawed methods of associating data on your server with your users. The data loss scenario is similar to a scenario inherent in using UDIDs. Buying a new device means that you've lost all your dat

Notification center isn't designed similarly to Android's equivalent... Like, at all. They function similarly, but if you're referring to Apple copying functionality then you've missed the whole point of this discussion.

This still doesn't solve the issue at all, all they've done is make their documentation more honest. Switching to an app server like Unicorn just means that a dyno will lock up after it's randomly assigned more than NUMBER_OF_WORKERS reques

Yeah I mean certainly power can't travel forever in long distance wires, but the "electrons" we're passing right by a side street when they got to an intersection. There was no issue in other cities when I starting exporting that extra powe

No big deal, obviously all they need to do is push out a server update since all of the calculations are being done there.

I've noticed some weirdness with this as well. I'm not sure if this is intentional behavior or not, but I had a Nuclear power plant in my city, which has more than enough capacity for the entire city. However, when you look at the power vie

I wouldn't really put it like that, but sure. You really aren't exposed to node.js at all except for when you bundle up the app to run it on your server. It's a framework that happens to use node.js, a particular mongo library, a particular

Eh, it's pretty easy to host it on your own server. Just run "meteor bundle myapp.tar.gz", extract the .tar.gz on your server, run "node main.js". It's documented on "meteor help".

Wow, I wouldn't necessarily call it a "clone". That skeuomorphism would make Scott Forstall cry. And what's with using Copperplate for logo? It makes the app look like something a child designed in Microsoft Word.

I was initially apprehensive about the server-based architecture of the game. However, after playing it for a few hours and being pleasantly surprised, I can now see why they did it. There's a concepts of multiplayer regions with cities tha

That's a nice idea, but it gets complicated when you want to create a uniform layout across all of pages, etc. Jekyll automates that so that you don't have to copy and paste header and footer blocks and things like that.

It's more or less public knowledge. You can find it yourself by running "strings" on the Twitter app binary. Any attempts on Twitter's part to limit the disclosure of these tokens would almost certainly invoke the Streisand Effect.

How did apps that used Dropbox handle it before this? Did they have to write a mechanism to sync data themselves?

Is it just me, or is this not at all the same kind of node.js-style concurrency that makes sense Heroku's new router? Using Unicorn simply means that you're firing up a few more workers, it's only slightly better than buying more dynos.
