I mostly agree, but unlike other legal agreements, contributing to a project under a FOSS license is not usually coupled with an expiry date after which there's room for radical re-licensing.

Isn't that even worse then? I mean, the FSF has a good track record and less people would object to assigning copyright over to the org.

While surely better than Google or Ubuntu, the new license can still be non-proprietary but highly controversial.

But if a or the driving force of a project takes things elsewhere, the users will eventually follow. If the disagreement was over GNU's insistence to require assigning copyright to the FSF, then I can fully understand the reluctance. I

I wonder if the old-school technique of #include'ing all .c files in one mega.c file and compiling only that, as done by Doom in the 90s, would still work today.

Firefox will be happy to make use of this. They've always run into LTO limitations, especially with the address space of a 32bit MSVC. Maybe with this in place and Clang's CL.exe emulator frontend, they could use it for Windows bu

This is beyond the scope of the tech linked here, but I'll bite and respond. I agree with what you say, but why is this worse than Google, Amazon and Microsoft doing it for the rest of the world with their always-on voice activated bot

Say I want a personal domain and have the MX not be Google or Fastmail, how complete is the implementation of these standards on major email providers' SMTP setups? Would I need to do thorough research or is it reasonable to expect it

I still don't understand why people so desperately want to find out who or what is behind Satoshi. It could be a person, it could be multiple persons, but what's to gain by identifying someone who gave the world something that

I suppose the issues you're referring to are with statically linked against musl executables. I wouldn't expect any such issue with musl just as the host, where you can run rustc on alpine and voidlinux, just not necessarily stati

I'm still looking for a widely supported (at least FreeBSD and Linux kernels) filesystem for external drives to carry around that doesn't have the FAT32 limitations. There's exFAT but no stable and supported implementation. T

Except that with NVME drives, and the parallel operations you can run on these, the performance of checksums becomes important again. Recent experiments with HAMMER2: https://www.dragonflydigest.com/2016/06/15/

I see, so does that mean it potentially would be required to explicitly support other code generators (GHC, OCaml, or something else), assuming the existing instrumentation is insufficient?

Thanks, because the way which snapshots of LLVM and rustc are required to build a certain rustc release does not make it an easy to use solution for common Rust users. It'd be great if an existing LLVM 3.8 can be leveraged.

Any idea as to why the following requirement? This will limit Afl.rs users quite a bit. afl.rs needs to compile against a version of LLVM that matches rustc's. The easy solution (if you can wait on a slow build) is to build r

I can't verify that, but it's kinda unfortunate that to have clear text rendering we have to process a much larger number of pixels, though it may be the logical solution. I hope you're right.

Nice, that seems to work. Is there a downside to using this? I had to still explicitly add `bind-key C-a previous-window` to emulate screen's `C-a a` to switch between last windows.
