It's also worth noting that all these companies have experienced executive leaders who came on during the transition from 100 to 1000 people. They succeeded with a massive amount of support from experienced top executives. This seems t

I struggle mostly because it's where my friends put all their events and it's where my theatre groups organise rehearsals. That said I've deleted my news feed and try not to post, both of which have helped. But due to this I&

There's a growing body of research suggesting fb is worse due to frequency. It might have a smaller effect than tv or heroin but it happens way more often than either of those.

Other comments have addressed the addictive nature of fb and the evidence of how it affects our brains. I want to point out the social pressures. These days since everyone has fb almost every social event is advertised via fb. When my frien

The point is that good quality Bluetooth headphones are still expensive. And as someone who has invested a lot of money in good quality wired headphones I don't want reinvest even more when we have a functioning technology that already

Those are not good headphone. £100+ are decent if wired, £200+ for good. Add another ~£150 for equivalent quality if bluetooth. Also adaptors frequently limit the power available from devices, greatly reducing quality on good headphones.

When you invest in top quality headphones (£200+) then buying a new equally good wireless set will set you back £300+. It also means charging two different things, which is a pain.

Note that the article is on teens, an age group where as a general rule everyone is super hormonal and therefore emotionally changable and hyper aware of social status. You're trying to look at this through the eyes of an adult, presum

A better approach might be "don't talk politics on chat channels" ie at the pub, over lunch sure but not on company wide official communication channels. We have a semi-unspoken rule at my work around this, partially due to h

What do you mean by finish? I was taught by a brewer friend that lager takes a fraction of the time ales do. (due to faster fermentation from the yeast being on top and nearer oxygen).

In Scotland a few of the micro-breweries are now experimenting with Gin and Whiskey. That could be the next stage as beer gets saturated. But there's also a long way to go with beer. Atm micro breweries are mostly making traditional f

You're presuming here that the current system is fair and reasonable. As it is, pedestrians are massively inconvenienced so that drivers can speed around in a two ton box of steel. To my mind that's not a fair trade off.

This is true, but you can also petition your local authorities for better public transport, bike lanes etc. You can campaign against urban sprawl. One of the issues at the moment is complete lack of awareness of any alternative to car centr

You've clearly never lived in pedestrian friendly environment. The nearest transit spot in areas with good public transport is a 5 min walk max. The nearest shop or doctors/dentist or bar/restaurant is 10-15min max and as ano

Can I ask what age you? You should easily be able to walk 30 min at any age short of 60, unless you have relates health issues. If you can't then you need to seriously consider improving your health.

Statistically the best thing for cyclist safety is increasing the number of cyclists on the roads. So any safety rules that decrease the number of cyclists (like requiring a license) has to be offset against the increased risk caused by hav

One design aspect not mentioned here - I don't know if it has an official name or not - is the idea of sub-goals. By which I mean mini achievements, not always explicit, beyond the main goal that players can achieve. Dominion is a grea

A good technique is to design life so you're efficient by default. For example I live 2.5 miles from work on the other side of the city centre, so getting a bus takes an age, thus I run or walk everyday to and from, because it's t
