I'm not refuting your general claim here, but the system you interacted with is Tesla's Autopilot, not FSD. They are two distinct systems for two distinct use cases (today). FSD is supposed to only work on city streets, and was in

Was this an item that was sold and shipped by Amazon? Or was it sold by another store and fulfilled by Amazon? That is wild and I'm sorry you had to go through that.

"Mostly local" might need to be better defined here. I routinely do a 200mi round trip two times a week with no other commuting otherwise. The implication might be that EVs can't do long distance, but that wouldn't be tr

It's much better on the HomePod Mini, and I think it must have to do with the U1 chip that can detect proximity. My OG Homepod is frustrating to try to use Handoff on.

Can you cite "various US agencies stats"? I say this as someone who used FSD Beta for a full year and Autopilot (with Navigate on Autopilot) for over 3 years now. It would actually help the conversation here to cite it, though I n

I will say, FSD has genuinely gotten better over the last year. I would not trust it to drive without a driver monitoring it. But I've had ~20mi trips end-to-end (surface streets and freeways) without requiring disengagement. It's

Someone already did. Even that person suggested you try it differently, but it sounds like you're invested in it being a convoluted hipster drink instead of being curious or having a discussion about it.

I have not once ran out of energy in the middle of a trip. You need to be an idiot to pull that feat off. And I've taken road trips from LA to Vancouver once a year. It takes longer than an ICE vehicle, but the ADAS features outweigh t

That's short-sighted. It's also possible to create a BEV that might not replace ICE vehicles for all use cases, but one that replaces the ICE vehicle in particular circumstances. A BEV fits into my lifestyle. So much so that I thi

I'm a big fan of Tesla. I own their cars. I even own FSD for each of my cars. But I was not informed on why their new Semi might be badly designed for the use case they were designed for. Tesla designs some things stupidly (i.e. they a

I feel like this is a dumb question. But how exactly does Durable Objects help you avoid replication and leadership election? I've read the high level overview of Durable Objects, but sadly, the answer isn't clicking for me...

GitLab. I didn't get the job. But the experience was great. The take home was reasonable (~1hr). The technical screening was based on talking about the take home and creating unit tests. And we had a Zoom meeting to talk about feedback

Just because you've worked at Google for "a few months" and you haven't seen it, it doesn't make the assertion not true.

Back in my college days, I was exposed to web application development because of PHP. Angular was still in its infancy and I was not aware of AJAX at the time. PHP frameworks, specifically Laravel and Code Igniter, made it very easy for me

The kind of work that McKinsey does is much different to most of the work done by firms like Accenture. The latter may do some strategy-level work for managers / senior managers, but the largest portions of their revenue comes from wor

I didn't realize HomePod interfaces with HomeKit accessories over the local network. At some point, I realized my Belkin smart outlets were pinging the external network a ton and I blocked its internet usage completely. I was pleasantl

Related because the author mentions you can use Home Assistant to control Apple TV (probably more control than what's out-of-the-box). HomePod + Apple TV native integration performs unreliably in my setup. "Hey Siri, pause Apple T

You're correct. It's connected to the same MBP. I've also done it where my MX mouse is connected to my MBP, but my AirPods are connected to my iPhone. That works fine!

To clarify, Logitech makes two MX Master mice - one generic and one "Mac specific" which bundles a USB-C cable and no dongle adapter. On their website, they do not reference the Mac-version compatible with the optional dongle. Edi

Using a different microphone (Logitech Webcam) works fine. I really need to switch off the AirPods microphone to get things to work. It's mostly fine, but I also step away from my desk. I wish I could also prioritize my microphone. 1.

Of all the years I've been reading HackerNews, this is the one that moved me to actually sign up. So I have three Intel-based MacBook Pros but of different model years - 2017 (15in), early-2019 (13in), and mid-2019 (16in). The mid-2019
