the fact your asking means you already know it's a bad idea, the question is whether you can handle the repercussions if it goes wrong.

Yo, this question is way too general. Basically the equivalent of me asking: Is it good to sacrifice my love for a career? How can we give a suggestion without any information?

Mobile marketing through Twitter and Facebook is generally effective. Unfortunately they want to milk you to death with Ad costs so they have a policy against sweepstakes, coupons and giveaways. Quizzes are not really effective unless they

Unfortunately the marketing community is much more scarce and scattered than the development community. I have had the same issues myself.

No, but that's not the point. The e-commerce space is very different than the product space. They are applying the same logic in both, which is a mistake.

A lot of people on here are defending Amazon "because they take risks". Yea of course they do, they burn capital like a startup; when they have been in business for ~20 years. That is just negligence, not persistence. Sure they to

Are we going to argue semantics on HN? If I show my app to anyone, which he did. Whether it is a news station or my mom it is marketing. He didn't just magically see it, the developer specifically showed him. You also have no idea if t

Marketing and propaganda are very similar, if people believe something to be true. It is. A lot of these famous social accounts aren't even the people in the photos. It's kinda disturbing once you get deep, everything seems so fak

The main character being an old man is not a good idea. It's important for an adventure game to create a character that the target audience can relate with, even if it's a hedgehog or something abstract. Albeit I agree with you in

Some people may say that we are in a Idiocracy, seeing games like Flappy bird become trend setters while AAA titles are getting barely any downloads. Mobile game developers need to understand the platform is more important than the game. In

People like you poison this site's ecosystem. Anytime you receive any counter to your misguided opinion you can silence the dissent by down-voting. Nothing you have said provides a insightful counter to anything I have said. You are ju

You proved my point " The first serious buzz happened when blogger ad technical Robert Scoble wrote about Yo after a visit to Israel. He called it “the stupidest” but “most addicting” app." Until then no-one knew about it

Their is also a lot of evidence to show Flappy Bird's position in the top apps placement was because of gray hat marketing.

Read the story of how it came to be, it was marketing. Keep in mind also the name itself is a huge reason for this.

That being said their are also examples of what you say working, but I have spoke to many people who have worked on AAA titles on mobile which have spent millions on R&D, with the best possible designers and developers, only to have a g

Sorry but you're vastly underestimating the power of marketing. "Yo" was basically an entirely marketing play, same with Flappy Bird, and their are several more examples. Candy Crush is by no means innovative, they polished a

Alright well, good luck guys. Hacker news guys are going to rip you apart even if it's a good idea, the general public may find a greater use for this. That being said I would create a more approachable video for Kickstarter, like the

Doesn't keeping that "sniffing" make the system fundamentally insecure. Considering someone could bring a NFC chip nearby your device that redirects to a url extension that pulls a malicious script?

I work with Ads on a lot of platforms, you can set that certain keyboards or phrases are blocked. In the sense that the post is still made, but it is not served to the public. Their is no conspiracy here, if anyone is causing that censorshi

It seems to be using a responsive site with issues of a overlay. The logo is also not flush with the mobile header. Should use a PNG logo with a transparent background, using a white background for your logo is causing that.

Also what type of cost will be associated with these type of NFC chips, I can't assume a mass production of these would be inexpensive with those chips. Wouldn't just keeping the USB with the printed metallic ink and a QR code be

OK I see you indicated it is using NFC. But all the iPhone models from what I know of don't even have NFC, let alone instant response from their proximity.

I like the concept, but posting this type of video on Hacker news is going to question the core technology vs the pitch. The way it is demonstrated makes it seem as if the card itself has flash memory, and has a wireless receiver. So basica
