This is only one use case for never. The article goes into a lot more than this. For example using never to create derived types is pretty common.

The article seemed to be lashing out at "overly" designed card such as most modern Toyotas (and I would lump the Supra in there myself). But there are still plenty of clean, conservative, visually simple cars out there. Sadly they

I sometimes find code reviews can create a "gap" in the center where neither person fully vets the change. The reviewer thinks "surely the author fully tested it, I'm just added assurance." And the author thinks &qu

If you can return to full productivity two weeks after switching to an Advantage 2 then you are way more skilled than I am :) I'd say I hit about oh 80% proficiency after a couple weeks. It took me many months for the keyboard to be fu

I always felt the Playdate was more competing with things like the Arduboy, Gamebuino, or even the Pico8. A new platform for brand new games that is perhaps retro inspired but not actually retro. I don't really think many people are de

Accelerated C++ by Andrew Koenig and Barbara Moo. I'm sure it's hopelessly outdated and irrelevant today. It was one of the first CS books I read and I really dug into and grokked it. I think it played a large role in the develope

Are there any other examples of successful games made by one person? I was going to say Fez, but two people created it. Successful single dev games are exceptionally rare

Windows excels at development if you're using Microsoft tech. Virtually all other tech stacks are at a disadvantage on Windows. WSL and WSL2 were created largely to address this gap.

I am making a level editor for Super Mario Bros 3. My ultimate goal is to fully reverse engineer the game and support all versions (NES, SNES and GBA), which will likely take me years. https://smaghetti.com

Does a great start on PH mean very much? The chances your target audience is there for most products seems very low. I would love to see this data compared to all products/startups in general, but of course that's probably difficu

I don't have any performance problems and I use Inkscape quite extensively. Although I am using it on Linux. I always got the impression Inkscape and Gimp both work best on Linux. I really like Inkscape quite a bit. But it took a lot o

My brain really wants/expects 45 degree rotation. Not saying you should add that though, it might make the game too easy. edit: and playing some more I see 45 degrees wouldn't even really work.

You're pulling that out of thin air. You have no idea if that is true. Your logic also says a seven day work week is ideal. But obviously we need to rest. Does 2 or 3 days of rest make us more productive? I honestly don't know. An

It's just a choice the developer needs to make. It's a pretty straightforward choice too, if the page is just static content, make it static. The ones that do everything at build time don't let you build a site that can be in

That isn't a fair assessment. For example Next allows fully static content (no JS at all) all the way to fully dynamic content with a few steps in-between. It's up to the developer to decide which of these they use. This decision
