For engineers at the mid to low level where leet code dominates the trait to select for is ability to program and be reasonable to work with.

None of these things are true of me actually. Skill based interview is an equalizer which overcomes status education. And fine divide the salary by 2 and it’s still better than most “licensed” careers

I still haven’t met the guy who is an algorithms genius who can’t program, but I can guarantee a license isn’t going to solve that problem.

- licensing ensures only a minimum level of quality - people with licenses still do interviews, often just as grueling - licensed careers with high performers (lawyers, doctors, ib, etc) have other forms of filtering which are much more pai

This implies it works piecewise. That’s also true of neural nets lol. You have to keep adding more neurons to get the granularity of whatever your discontinuities are. It’s also a different reason than Taylor series which uses differentiabi

We knew about universal function approximators like. Polynomials and trig functions since the 1700s. Turing and godel were around 1910 and 1920. The cybernetics movement is big in the 30s and 40s. Perceptrons 50s and 60s

If you study this historically you will see that every generation thinks they have the mechanism to explain brains (gear systems, analog control/cybernetics, perceptrons). My conclusion is we tend to overestimate our understanding and

This is completely irrelevant to the original claim (it’s outrageous for elons bonus to be X percent of every previous car) or my point (nurturing exponential growth is worth burning a lot of early cash flow).

It takes a tremendous amount of attention for a message to get into the public in 2024. For you to know Elon’s name in the first place is a result of careful marketing and PR. So now that media is interested in Elon the question is what ch

Tesla now sells as many cars in a year as it did in its whole lifetime up to 2018. So that’s why it was worth paying Elon that much. The current sales position is tremendous.
