Maybe not in the US? I mean here in Israel app-based grocery delivery to the home has been a thing since 2014. The price has been a constant (30 NIS ~9) and it's provided by all the chains. The difference is the model. Here, warehouse

As someone who cannot process video, agreed this is genuinely insulting. To me, the majority of knowledge distillation is quickly becoming like cheap snacking - you get a bit, it leaves you wanting, but is ultimately bad for you.

Also importantly, validate annually that the charity you chose is still on the list. Too many charities scale, and frankly become poor at efficiency and distribution. A shocking number of larger charities are effectively marketing, and s

Exactly this. Here in Israel, SMS is used extensively as part of a multi-factor authentication system. I also require my National ID. To move my phone number (consent or not) between any phone companies requires an SMS, my National ID, and

For something that's preventative? Why would it cost a lot for preventative treatment that reduces overall health care spending?

I'm not an American, but I've had eye tests in both Canada and Israel. Just how expensive are these? In Canada they're free - covered by health care (Glaucoma). Regular eye tests in Canada cost ~$49 (clearly, Queen Street).

I'd argue that all I really want them to compete on is customer service. All in all this sounds pretty perfect to me. We get quality care, but some element of competition. I've lived under three different types of systems - this

This is more or less how it works in Israel. The EMR is owned and controlled by the state. Four private HMOs compete (in the literal sense) to provide services as efficiently and high quality as possible, according to their government licen

I fully relate to this. Years ago I worked for a Canadian subsidiary of a US company doing work with the US government. On a (illegal in Canada) US government form I accurately marked down that my "Protected Origin Class". I am 50

Does the question not become redemption from what? There are individuals who support X or support Y - but in the modern era to some group of people support for either of those letters is abhorrent. Today people are 'cancelled' for

The lack of nuance on this issue, in society is shocking. We expect people to change and grow over time. People change opinions, political parties, perhaps even ideals, yet we crucify people in the public domain for opinions they once opine

Unfortunately I can't comment below this point, in the thread I started. You're making the point I'm making. While I don't (to the best of my knowledge) purchase counterfeit items, I don't pretend that certification

Admittedly one could argue that this is the reason we have insurance. I don't know that my Apple X won't light my house on fire, as opposed to my knock off Snapple X.

Thank you. I have this ongoing goal of learning to front-end. JavaScript has always made sense. Frameworks change, but it generally follows CS principles in a way that I can understand. But CSS just breaks my head. This looks like CSS broke

As someone who spent years contracting, realize that for the most part you're not competing on price. You're competing on value. Day rates aren't usually higher than the fully loaded cost of an employee - but they are higher

This is the exact same problem I have with writing. Whenever I sit down to write - I find that work, notifications, heck the entire machine gets in the way. I've now reverted to pen and paper at least for now. It seems like a great way

I think it's more a construct of the ongoing societal flip between Elizabethan and Victorian morals. I had a teacher years ago who opined that generations swing one way, and then the other - within the context of their societies.
