Don’t underestimate what a tiny percentage of people with malice in their hearts can do with 10000 years of opportunity.

It would be interesting to play with a left-to-right timeline for any tweet replies or conversations. It would leave the standard timeline alone, but allow users to scroll right to deep dive into specific conversations.

The “V” in MVP stands for viable. If someone isn’t willing to pay for it, then it’s not an MVP.

Which is silly, since pilots can absolutely take their eyes off the controls at cruising altitude and not slam into something. If, for some reason, the system disengages they would have ample time to take control of the plane. That is absol

This is pretty click-baity. The planes are obviously used as commuting shuttles so government employees can live somewhat normal lives while still working in far-off research facilities. > It's likely that JANET is simply how

It's been done. Singapore Airlines flew the longest scheduled flight (between New York and Singapore, SQ21 and SQ22) using an all-business A340-500 [1]. They canceled the service in 2013 since revenue wasn't high enough. Apparentl

That's not really a valid comparison. The real-world difference between $50 and $500 is much greater than the real-world difference between $50,000,000 and $500,000,000. $450 to most of the population is a meaningful amount that could

Flying into transparent glass under their own power isn't something that kills an insect, so there won't be any selection mechanism at work. One of the other things to consider is the windshield/windscreen phenomenon[0]:

I'd say that an R44 is the "Honda Accord" of helicopters, and they're around $500k brand new. With a net worth of hundreds of millions, I'd expect that he went for something safer (with a turbine), like a Bell Jetra

Open source projects can request free licenses from Atlassian. Here's the form: https://www.atlassian.com/software/views/open-source-license... Presumably, they'll add Stride to that form eventually.

This would be great for flowcharts and diagrams. Sketch out a rough diagram on a tablet, and then have the shapes and lines "snap" to crisp versions as soon as they are identified. Even better if I could draw it on a whiteboard, t

This is really neat, and I think it could work well for most basic maintenance work. I'm really curious about the logistics. How do you handle catastrophic failures during a repair? For example, what happens when a rusty bolt head snap

If you have allergies or just don't like dogs, we have dog-free zones. Also, we only allow well-behaved dogs that keep to themselves. I have pretty severe allergies to dogs (and cats), and have no issues here.

This is pretty interesting, thanks. I'm not really strong in stats, but it seems like many of the non-contaminated counties have very low sample sizes that may not be statistically significant. Example: in Marin County, 0 of 11 samples
