As far as I can tell this is a better, more polished product. And they are giving away high quality model access for free.

Personally I don't think it is worse than what I routinely trust US big tech on. I expect Github/Microsoft to train on my use as well. Actually I think ByteDance is more trustworthy as more focus is on them.

My guess the TOS is because they want to train on user data. As people have noted Claude is not cheap and they are giving it away for free here.

It is really good plus it allows you to use Claude 3.5 for free (probably until ByteDance implements their own model).

So current AI can do less than 10% of these. But it probably won't be more than a few days until models start being trained on these rendering the indicator invalid.

They wrote a paper. As far as I can tell they applied a smørrebrødsbord approach and that let to the results they got.

DeepSeek shows that it is not the size of your computer that matters the most, rather your talent, and the approach you are taking. Should have been obvious but now somehow isn't?

I took it for a spin and it looks great - a great way of playing with a LLM. Sure some of the elements are in IntelliJ, Copilot, or maybe Cursor (which I haven't tried) but it is all very well put together. Recommended. (But of course

As far as I can tell this is operated out of Singapore, which is not some communist backwater, according to the law there and on top of US big tech infrastructure. The models this editor work with are by Anthropic and OpenAI both US compani

I haven't tried cursor but I cannot help notice the commit messages (or lack there of). Why doesn't cursor help with that?

Not used in model training probably means it was used in model validation.

Apple should do a new note explaining why they put the apps back on the App Store without a changed law or a formal delay of the ban.

Not much info here but this is big news - an actually published open source model that matches O1 from OpenAI - the model has been available behind an api for a few months. Here is an article with someone playing with it: https://

"Darren Jones defends decision to allow app to continue running in UK as it stops working in US ahead of national ban" Crazy how this half-a-day ban in the US triggers chatter about bans in European countries.

Incredible. Isn't ByteDance already owned 60% by international (mostly American) investors? https://usds.tiktok.com/who-owns-tiktoks-parent-company-byte...

As it looks now Trump will facilitate a deal within 90 days - Biden could have done that and left the US with a much healthier media landscape. You are free to call Biden more principled but to me it looks like a shot in the foot.

Biden could have cut a deal with TikTok instead of this. That would have left the US with a least one major social media not in the pocket of Trump.

Deeply unserious (like the rest of the TikTok saga) and TikTok even at a depressed price is worth far more than perplexity.

What looks like weak internal demand (surging exports, stagnant imports) is in fact Chinese industrial policies working incredibly well. When a Chinese consumer buys a (purely) Chinese-made car or phone instead of a (partly) foreign-made on
