Modern microkernels deliver stability, security, performance (look it up if you want the details). Back when I did CS we were talking about this as the next big thing in operating systems. It didn't happen - common operating systems in

We need Europeans need to rid ourselves from American big tech used in government functions. This is simply unacceptable.

Huawei is probably the one that possibly might move away from arm because they have their own operating system. The US could tighten their controls more and ban them from arm altogether- so far they are prohibited from arm 9. I am not sure

I think they are just ahead of the curve - Twitter and Facebook are also abandoning human moderation possibly in favor of some algorithmic solution.

I just find this crazy - you can have good public infrastructure without be authoritarian.

I don’t see what this has to do with authoritarianism. If anything it is an example of the opposite.

I have been on trains in Denmark a plenty and our public transport planning is slow and bureaucratic. We could learn from this example - both in major cities and areas where demand is too scattered to justify regular routes.

Sadly I think weapons are going to be the next big Chinese export boom. Russia has its capacity for exports limited by the Ukraine war. And as this example (plus drones) demonstrates Chinese tech is clearly good enough.

But you can if you live in a well functioning democratic society - remember the alternative is not no id but privatized for profit identity providers like Google and Facebook.

You have plenty of government id's in the US as well. Driver licenses, tax number, birth certificates ... I think often people mess up the subjects of privacy, freedom and a government provided id. You can have privacy and freedom even

Identity providing is a natural monopoly and should be provided by the state in same manner as a passport is provided. We can discuss the implementation but in Denmark and quite a few other countries, the login problem in online government

It is technically possible to make this solid. Much in the same way that you can make a piece of client side software next to impossible to pirate by having it in part run on a central server.

Just to be clear - I don't support this and I think India is dangerously overestimating its advantages. I am just describing what I have seen in Indian media.

Yes. Right now the thinking in the west seems to be that India has a bigger role to play in terms of geopolitics as a replacement of / balance against China. And India seems to have picked up on this and sees a greater opportunity to a

There is a lot of Indian English-language media on YouTube and Twitter. There the war drums have been sounding strongly for the past weeks. They seem to draw a parallel between India/Kashmir/Pakistan and Israel/Gaza/Iran

Interesting to see what will happen to the Comac C919 which relies on a large number of US parts including the French/US leap engine. I would expect them to have substitutes for all of the components but a trade embargo will likely set
