It is murder, simple as that. The moment a sperm fertilizes an egg, a new unique genetic material is formed, which is damn near the closest thing we have to an objective standard of when a new human life is started. Embryo is a stage of dev

Not sure what you think Emacs does, but it very much uses pull requests. You write/change code, commit it, send emails to a mailing list requesting to incorporate the code. Just because it's not GitHub doesn't mean it doesn&#

It kind of seems like a pointless middle finger to a situation in which... doing exactly this fork is permitted in the first place. Upstream GNU Emacs is already on a forge, putting it on GitHub doesn't seem to have much point beyond &

ffmpeg is a really powerful tool that's well worth learning. It's become my go to for almost every video, audio, and still image task. One thing that might help: ffmpeg is, in fact, the Unix philosophy of "do one thing and do

gzip has BSD-licensed compatible alternatives already. It's doubtful the same attention would be given to bzip3; chicken-and-egg scenario there. Plus the lingering question of "Why not zstd?"

I understand that AGPL is an attempt to combat software-as-a-service otherwise hiding open source behind a network interface (and yes I know, the FSF's preference against that term). It's still rather heavy-handed to a point that
