When they talked about the WWDC app being written in Swift they also explicitly mentioned that Swift will run on iOS 7 and 8 as well as OS X Mavericks and Yosemite.

I agree 4 GB is getting to be a little low for a modern laptop, but I'm curious as to how bad this "chugging" is considering swapping to SSD isn't too bad and is many times faster than any swapping that occurred on those

Agreed on the specific permission to read a text from a certain source. This "access to all SMS" sounds crazy - next step is let an app peruse my email inbox I guess? Even though I'm sure that isn't too far fetched with

Just seems like billion is the new million when acquisitions are concerned, but yes, I guess it wasn't that small overall. Did not realize PA Semi was founded by a lead designer at DEC. Thanks for the info, and Wikipedia filled in th

Pretty impressive that Apple is capable of such CPU disruption with just a few small acquisitions. Is PA Semi the main reason for this, or could Apple have been building up a CPU design team for years before that acquisition?

Agreed - data-binding and "magic" automatic updates to the view when the model changes are key to what make Angular attractive. The focus on testing is nice too, though.

Still a pretty small number (2-8 max?) compared to all of the PC configurations you have to worry about in DX and OpenGL land.

I know, pointless comment, but some syntax highlighting issues hardly seem worth a "fuck you". Article title would be much better without that.

Overall I think there are a lot of factors, many that we the public are not privy to, that form the basis of these deals. All of this analysis and speculation is a form of entertainment. And that's fine I guess...

Agreed - how do we know the value difference for a "user" of Zappos and a user of whatsapp (among other dimensions)? This graph is not very insightful, it's just visualizing the easy way to look at and quantify the purchase.

I think the "within reach" angle makes more sense here because there is often a lack of choice for most Americans when they look at who offers cable/internet in their area (e.g., only Cox, Comcast, Time Warner, etc.). I think

Anyone else find it strange that these slides are filled with some pretty hardcore technical jargon, yet on one of the slides they feel the need to clarify "GDDR5 is very high end graphics memory only found on PC graphics cards"?

Seems OK - but is anyone going to trust this? One idea is a low-amount "test" fund to keep around a year or so? Anyone have ideas on how to feel better about actually using this for larger sums of money?

Which also leads to crazy optimization against the stable hardware. Just look at what PS3 and Xbox 360 are pushing out with ~512 MB RAM and 7+ year old hardware. It's pretty incredible.
