San Diego has the best weather I've ever experienced. I've been there at different times of the year too. I don't live there and don't have any motivation to say that other than just being honest. I don't have any d

Well, it depends. I've never heard this term "groomer" before. I don't even understand the term but it sounds like there's a community or subculture out there that takes it very seriously. So, if I were in public sp

What about an array of space telescopes creating a kind of "virtual lens"? Putting aside the engineering scale and cost of such a project, would something like that even be possible? Or would that be pure science fiction?

Looks like a lot of great work went into this. But I'm not sure I want to see CLI applications continue going down this path. Maybe I'm missing the point of this, but I like my terminal applications simple, small and easy to drop

Someone on Notebookcheck said CPU choice could be related to the lack of AVX-512 support on the 12th gens. But I have my doubts. Wouldn't the GPU be the most important component for ML workloads in general?

I like this. Has some nice features yet simple enough than I don't immediately dismiss it because I know I'll never have the time to properly wrap my head around it. Nice work.

Very impressive. Do you have any experience with designing Verilog or SystemVerilog MIPS implementations as well? If so, how does that compare to RISC-V? Which one was easier in terms of design, testability, SoC integration and overall unde

It's not a wake up call for me. This is in line with expectations. If the economic sanctions don't work I assume the next phase is cyber war at scale. If that doesn't work, traditional hot war.

I also had the same observation. It's pretty annoying and an example of how the web in some cases is become less useful. For Google in particular, more often I myself skipping the first wave of results because they aren't very hel

How are access controls and permissions reconciled? I'm assuming user accounts on the Windows side and Linux side are different. Or would LDAP/AD help to make this WSL2 filesystem integration stuff even more seamless?

"This telescope would cost an estimated $11 billion, and could launch in the early 2040's." So that probably means $20 billion and an early 2050s launch? Still worth it in my opinion.

If this is true, then I think we have a bigger problem on our hands. Even if there's no lab connection to the COVID-19 outbreak.

I guess "smoking gun" is too strong. Maybe what I should have said is something like "there's been a new development which completely changes the characterization of the sequence of events leading up to the pandemic.&quo

I could be missing something but this isn't exactly the smoking gun the title makes it seem. I'm sure there are proposals, plans and applications for all types of things. What I'm waiting for, perhaps naively, is strong evide

I feel like I'm a similar boat as you. I came into the ASIC world from the EE side of things: digital design, VLSI layout and traditional HDLs. I never learned functional programming so the entire paradigm of FP is opaque to me. Verilo

We had tiered classes when I was a kid. Stupid, normal, smart. They weren't called that, but that was basically what was going on. I was put in slow math classes and still my grades were poor. My teachers, my parents and even myself, w

Cool project. I'm starting to become a fan of dual core BLE SoCs though. One small M0 to handle the BLE stack (which typically has to be high priority) and one M4 for the application.
