I found Snap to be frustating. It's trying to address a real problem but imho it fails to make life easier. As soon as something breaks or goes wrong and I have to look under the hood, my mental model of how traditional Unix software m

I feel like most of these "breakthrough" announcements are just PR for reasearchers, startups and the energy industry in general. I get it, they need the money. Everyone needs money. But they're going about it in a clickbait-

I'm an American in the tech industry (shocker). I've worked in chip design, but not chip manufacturing. I don't know very much about the manufacturing side of things but I know enough to confidently say the industry is huge a

This book was one of the reasons I studied Computer Engeering. I wanted to build things that make people's lives better.

TSMC doesn't really write chip design software. Maybe they do at some small level but that's not their bread and butter. TSMC provides IP engineers need to design chips to be built by TSMC. That IP is used by CAD tools from major

Not sure how I feel about websites blocking vistors based on their browser type. Is that just a necessary evil at this point because of all network abuse on the public internet?

I get it. Only certain customers get to have their dignity respected. It makes sense I guess, if you're a low value customer you're just not going to get the same treatmeant as valued customers.

I agree Apple probably isn’t switching to RISC-V any time soon. I’m just not buying the story that they looked at it, could have done it, passed on it, and that’s that. Even in 2022 it may not be wise to start a huge RISC-V project yet for

I don't think RISC-V was ready for prime time when Apple decided to switch away from Intel, which was likely many years before the first M1 products were announced. The RISC-V spec may be stable and fine but you need a whole ecosystem
