If the data is occasionally bad, but law enforcement relies on it, bad things will happen. Now that I think of it bad things will happen as well even if the data was accurate.

Why would this use-case require to call to Amazon? Going to Wikipedia should suffice.

The most involved part of a CRUD app is writing data and checks around it. This "checking" part can be written with little interaction to the outside world.

Even more the article mentions that primordial dark matter is required to explain the signature of the CMB. Therefore, if black holes form the dark matter they must have been formed primordial.

You are referring to the electron charge, not diameter which cannot be measured. Certainly there is bias in physics but I don't recall any occasion where amateurs where correct and experts not (in fundamental physics, that is). This ma

You should look up MOND. However, it seems to have a hard time explaining all phenomena we see.

As the Seattle Times reported, the MCAS system was mis-characterized by Boeing. Rules don't help if you don't go by them. This postmortem must include "runaway corporate greed" absolutely. Not sure what can be done about

Until they are forced to. I hope that the FAA doesn't get a say here and other agencies will retract the type rating.

MCAS doesn't work in most low altitude conditions as it is switched off when flaps are extended (the case both for departure and landing).

In some countries, it's not allowed without verification. This could get Mozilla in hot waters so I would fix it. How hard can it be?

I don't think there is a hindsight here. Boeing made false statements when certifying the plane.

The problem is that the damage is cumulative. Each step may have little collateral damage but each is a step in the same direction where your reputation becomes bad.

All this can be expressed in cold, hard, and comparable numbers? I very much doubt that. Any system which wants to measure these traits is doomed to fail.

I'd not be that sure. My son (then 5 or 6 years old) managed to insert a CD exactly into the gap between two devices on a tower. He insisted on having the CD inserted although the CD player apparently was empty. It took me a while to f

40s is only enough if you know what to do right away from the start of the situation. A failing sensor may confront the pilots with many (unrelated to a trim runaway) warnings (like unreliable airspeed, stick shaker, alt disagree). That has

My hopes for the EASA are low. They will fear retaliation on Airbus. I am afraid we will have to hope for the big Asian players.

All 737 MAX have two sensors. The Lion Air flight had sensors disagreeing by 20° right from the start. This made the stick shaker go off on one side right after departure (throughout the entire flight) and led to a multitude of other alarms
