Oh, yeah cyclamate. Similar to that, Borax is banned in the US, but allowed as an additive in the EU. Found this out when trying to make pho meatballs.

> MSG is completely banned in the US for use in food Can you expand on this? I’m looking at a bag of Doritos in my pantry that has MSG as its 12th ingredient.

Not much different from airplanes but eventually will be way more frequent. Asking about birds/clouds is missing the point since these are natural phenomena. There's already a technical way to subtract it out via stacking, and it

It depends on the person, I can go on and off caffeine with no repercussions, but my wife goes through grueling withdrawals when she does it. A pot per day can be a lot, or a little depending on the bean and the roast, so I can't comme

Article is from May 25, 2021, this is mostly out of date news. Kids younger than 12 (5 years - 11 years) can get the vaccine now, so there's even less cause for concern.

Sure. So while Sarbanes Oxley doesn’t contain anything like “thou shalt not commit to a repo”, it’s pretty clear about separation of duties. This means that the person who commits code cannot be the same as the person who deploys (or has ac

I was an ops manager at $big_company like the one described; your response gets it pretty right. There were many many groups that all wanted a slice of our team's time, and it added up to probably a 6 month lead time on all requests. B

At a previous job, I used a pair of usb-powered fingerless gloves. They worked quite well, if a bit bulky in the palm area.

Gotcha. I had signed up in a US region and there was nary an ARM server to be found. I was quite disappointed. Then sales people reminded me of my disappointment weeks after.

I played around with Oracles free tier. When you first sign up, you must choose a “home” region. You cannot add another region on the free plan. These awesome free instances are very limited stock. You have no way of knowing if the region y

I was going to write up a devil's advocate post, but I think I'm mostly fine with people having the freedom to keep smoking as long as externalities are priced in. If smokers cost the country ~NZ$2.5 billion for their personal fre

I live in the Southern US and it's extremely humid and hot in the summers. Only certain systems are fine with being in the garage. For instance, a Supermicro chassis I put out there began rusting in a few spots after a few months, but

Lotta black and white, half truths, and unnecessary harsh rhetoric in this article. You get a lot "for free" with WP, but yeah it's generally miserable to maintain. I'd counter that WordPress can be acceptable for a Seri

They are not making a fair argument. The bottom line is, Nginx offers no way for an unprivileged user to safely modify behavior of the webserver. Yeah, .htaccess is not performant, but high performance isn't always necessary.

Iron manning your own argument or appealing to authority are fallacious ways to make an argument. Boiled down, quotes usually are just propaganda. It's funny because if you're going to indulge in fallacy to get your point across,
