How is this judgemental or, to be more concise, how is this inappropriately judgemental? The parent comment is explicitly talking about how they "feel" about people using their phones and then continues to explain their situation.

Isn't that the very definition of something being predictable? That there is a pattern which predicts a certain outcome? For example a certain simplified weather pattern (e.g. "if it rains for three consecutive days 9/10 time

From the perspective of a German who follows a lot of american news this seems to be exactly right. I would love to hear from someone originally from the US who follows German news/lives in Germany. Interestingly there is -in my opinio

That might be true but it was not my point. I was merely arguing that not seeing many cases actually go to trial is not an argument that can be made in this case.

If those elevators worked they would actually solve a big engineering problem: Very High Buildings can only have a limited number of elevator shafts. But it takes a significant time to use them which makes it problematic if there are a lot

But wouldn't the fact that trials might be favoring conviction (I'm not saying they do, but just as a hypothesis) also drastically change the outcome of those non-trial cases (mainly plea bargains, I guess)? If I expect to be conv

Consumer protection in the EU generally follows the minimum approach, meaning that every state may implement higher standards and the EU wide standard is only the necessary minimum of protection. This would probably be the case with this ne

Thanks for actually pointing out all those things that made me feel as if the story was made up. I would add the general style of the write up. It does not seem like a person being actually keen to receive an answer but is written like a ta

While there is definitely some truth to the effects of the value Euro being "too low", I don't think that is the "main reason" for the number of German middle class manufacturers which the article is talking about.

I think the difference is that Go is played on a psychological level as well, while weightlifting is (mainly) not. Somebody mentioned this in another Go Thread on hn a few days ago: Professionell Go players do not like to play against "

The demand is probably too low, especially if you consider that Europe is itself quite big which means producing in some central country like Germany will only reduce the international shipping costs but not eliminate them.

I'm studying in Germany and Jodel is in my experience astonishingly popular among students. At a University with about 40.000 students there is an active community of 1000-4000 users and definitely more group communication than on Face

It is quite interesting how I as a European citizen often come to think I would understand American culture (because I'm constantly confronted by it on reddit, hackernews, the NYTimes etc.) but get disproved a lot. Is it generally acce

I'm not really sure about the amount of money needed to have an actual impact on a stock like Amazon but maybe somebody more knowledgeable might have an idea: Does this measurably lower the market valuation of Amazon? If there is const
