It's disappointing to not see any mention of VRChat in articles like this. It's niche, but vrchat has a pretty large and consistent fanbase. Meta gets all the headlines because they tried to create the same thing and ended up ligh

The article says rents are falling while housing prices are remaining stable. I wonder if this means we'll start to see a lot of apartments convert to condominiums to equalize this imbalance?

I agree that mental health issues are a serious driver for homelessness. We see that 20-25% of the homeless population has serious mental health issues... not all of them, but much higher than the regular population. However, this doesn

I read the book 'Homelessness is a Housing Problem' by Greg Colburn recently, it has a lot of data and makes a good argument for this position. A good direct comparison is between Seattle, WA and Charlotte, NC... they've both

More likely this is simply a function of housing cost. Median home price is much greater in Portland and Denver than any major city in Florida. It's tempting to see homelessness as an individual problem, but cost of housing is a much s

This article is a good overview of the research about treatment-first vs housing-first approaches. The last paragraph is pretty clear on the real difficulty: >The major obstacles to resolving homelessness remain ideological. It is politi

I actually did this, I was laid off a few months ago and went to work at a bakery part-time. The shift wasn't crazy early, I was working 6-9am 3 days a week... this was still too early for me, I ended up moving to helping close up and

It's certainly possible but likely not to happen. Bitcoin developers seem to have adopted a much more conservative stance than other chains, focusing almost entirely on stability and test coverage. I think Ethereum moving to proof-of-s

Tornado is nice because you can stay entirely within the Ethereum blockchain- no need to involve a centralized entity like an exchange to facilitate this. It's also arguably more private than monero. Tornado uses zk math instead of coi
