I think there’s always a danger of these foundational model companies doing RLHF on non-expert users, and this feels like a case of that. The AIs in general feel really focused on making the user happy - your example, and another one is how

The question I wonder when reading this is why did this work for you when other exercise routines didn’t? It sounds like you at least tried the gym before and couldn’t stick with it - so why did this one stick? To me it seems a lot of healt

The biggest risk they face is perhaps competition from unskilled workers who can do trades by just wearing Meta AR glasses and following instructions from an AI. Of course you’d still need training on how to work with your hands but it woul

I imagine it's incredibly useful for prototyping movies, tv, commercials before going to the final version. CGI will probably get way cheaper too with some hybrid approach. Obviously this will get used for a lot of evil or bad as well

Yeah it seems like the essence of this deal is that Nvidia is selling their chips in exchange for stock in AI companies. Makes a ton of sense, Nvidia has more cash than they need and it’s a great investment. I wonder if OpenAI starts gettin

I'm not really sure how your comment would disprove the story. It seems that it's unclear if the Dead Hand was even active at this time, and also it probably triggers when impact occurs rather than on satellite detection. Meanwhi

I spent a ton of time researching this. I wasn’t able to find any thinkpads that are relatively lightweight, have a hi res screen, and new CPUs for even close to the price of the framework 13 which can be purchased with a reasonable spec fo

I guess I read it as the opposite. This would allow someone to use purely voice control to interact with maps, podcasts, etc since iphones have pretty limited voice controls built in. Plus obviously accessibility use cases.

I seriously doubt apple will ever have the level of voice control that this would provide. It's a great idea for a product! One obvious dumb question is is there a video input for the device? I mean how does it know what screen it&#x

Not saying that they intentionally faked this failure, but it probably did provide more effective marketing than what they planned. It's certainly the first thing I heard about it.

Great pitch, you've articulated the pain point super well and I agree with it. I have personally had no luck with prompting models to ask me clarifying questions. They just never seem to think of the key questions, just asking random

A16Z is consistently the most embarrassing VC firm at any given point in time. I guess optimistically they might be doing “outrage marketing” but it feels more like one of those places where the CEO is just an idiot and tells his employees

Really good idea, I’ll have to try it out. The thing I really want is to have the ability to give a recipe for a new Claude code instance - spin up a docker image with code, data, and a running server and then let Claude work against that.

If you understand that a PhD is about much more than just knowledge, it's still the case that having easy access to that knowledge is super valuable. My last job we often had questions that would just traditionally require a PhD-level

So far my feeling is that cursor is a bit better for working on existing large codebases, whereas claude does a good job planning and building greenfield projects that require a lot of code. That does net out to meaning that Cursor gets use

Has anyone made the switch to firefox? I’d be sad to lose my nice google profile integration to chrome and the password manager. And whenever I try Firefox it feels a little bit jankier and slower, but that might just be in my head

I think a lot of fields of engineering have analogous questions actually. EEs ask to explain a circuit or draw a new one. Mech Es ask to design some piece of simple hardware with a clever catch. Interviewing is just hard, it’s impossible to

On the one hand I don't think there's risk of losing money with something like this, they kept the money in a third party broker and it's SIPC-insured. But it's probably good to have some humility and admit that even fo

I really don't think it's wise to gate your applications behind an AI video interview lol. It's just too much time to invest before I even know if there's any mutual interest. You will probably tend to filter out candid

It's a pretty car but I feel like they are mostly just selling a story about cost savings. Third party carplay screens can be bought for $150 so that just can't be very meaningful. The real cost savings is that it's a cheap
