I know it has issues, but for me Gmail is fine. The version before the one I was using displays the profiles fine. So who knows.

Quite true, but sad that a company like Apple would even entertain this path considering their roots and seemingly pure beginnings. A business is a business, but sometimes it behoves one to be better than the rest and not just financially (

Of course they have, but my point is that the situations are dissimilar. In the case of Microsoft, they are crippling their own software at the behest of another internal project, where as Apple is effectively crippling 3rd party software a

For some reason the new profiles don't render correctly in Chrome. It just shows a white page with nothing on it that is much longer than the actual profile page is. Not only that if you view source, it is all there. I am running Chrome 11.

It really felt like a forced analogy because the two situations are much different in practice. To have them be the same, Apple would have to be crippling their internal applications and services at the benefit of the external ones.

The way the OP is presented is a little confusing, comparing Microsoft and it's internal applications having a 'strategy tax' versus Apple and their internal and 3rd party applications. I do agree with the closing argument, it definitely co

The problem with other even-driven frameworks out there is that they have too much existing codebase that is blocking, which is why Ryan Dahl went with javascript. It had no preconceptions how to do things, and didn't have a large library o

Although the ideas and technology behind node.js aren't entirely new, the fusion of a well known client side language like Javascript and a robust server-side event based architecture really makes node.js great. I really enjoyed the article

NPM >0.3.0 changed to requiring sudo while installing. The reason being that it simplifies things logistically as well it allows NPM to install modules as nobody, since you have to be sudo to do that.

I am all for consumer choice, but if Apple complied with the rule, that would only give consumers more choice when it comes to applications on the iPhone. Imagine people being able to install applications without Apple approving them. Yeah

All they would have to do to comply with this rule is to allow people to install apps not served from the App Store, much like Android already does. Seems like a simple enough request, and would only benefit users.

Granted it was a bit dismissive, but it is a common issue of people coming into the node.js community and saying it needs this or that. One main thing being that you shouldn't have to deal with callbacks/events. Now I think everyone is enti

There hasn't been any confirmation from Apple regarding SaaS and similar though has there? Do you see Netflix/Hulu/Pandora and others sticking around? I really don't. If their cut is effectively nil, they end up spending money to have users

For anyone that wants to see a detailed changelog: https://gist.github.com/833296 I really like the addition of .env because it simplifies the code required to do what most people use jsdom for. The speed improvements are welcome.

While I agree that the apps market is a huge new thing, I really don't think it is going to continue to take off with no end in sight. We are in unprecedented times, and I think looking at any prior history really doesn't do it justice. But

I think the trend is shifting at least when it comes to projects hosted on Github. Forking there is less of a divergent path, but more of a way to tinker and make changes and push them back to the main code source. At least that is what mos
