I wanted to cross post this here as I already posted it in the comments. ----- I am glad you wrote about this, but I feel you are missing the real 'magic' that can be done with node.js and Backbone, or any client code you choose. Socket.io

I think was was somewhat mistaken on the premise of this change. I don't like it as much as I initially did, but as long as Apple doesn't force publishers that have subscriptions outside of their app (and don't offer in app subs) to do in a

I am glad Apple put this in here. After the issue with the ambiguous working on purchases made outside the App Store, this is something more consumer friendly as well as publisher friendly.

You are correct about #1 but #2 is way off. Where did you get that assumption? From everything that was said or done about Wave, it seemed like they have no problem with having the data be outside of Google's silos. If they wanted to contro

The main theme for a Mac based IRC client has this feature built in. Though it only reflects for people that have that client/theme. If you are wondering the client, it is Linkinus. I believe the change is visible in Skype for all participa

This would be a huge differentiator between Android and other phones/tablets that have Netflix on them already. Regardless of this tech, I am just glad that Android will be getting Netflix soon.

The great thing about node.js is the flexibility it provides. It isn't what Rails is to Ruby or Django is to Python, really it is a way for Javascript to interact with the OS outside of the browser, e.g. on servers. This versatility leads t

Depends on how it was marketed. The reason Instagram went viral is because it is one of those apps that has a network built around it. You share pictures with people, so you have to get other people to install the app so you can share it. O

Wasn't a dig on this service specifically, just being an Android fan and user since day one, I find it backwards that Android still gets ignored even though it is a huge force and has great traction. I guess ultimately though, things are ch

I don't understand why companies don't make Android apps a priority right off the bat. Unless you are making an app that you plan to sell, most times you will get just as good or better traction on Android. Look at Angry Birds (edge case, n

I agree on most of your points, but I use Node.js so the Javascript stuff is just great. I also like Couchapps so in any case, CouchDB is just fantastic for those. I think people are tainted on Map/Reduce because they see how it is done wit

You're welcome, and not alone. CouchDB is awesome but it is a matter of educating people about it's strengths. I think there are a lot of people using MongoDB when they would be better off using CouchDB for their data.

Nodester isn't a new hosting service, it is Nodefu just rebranded. This was submitted to HN eighteen days ago [0] and there was some confusion over the name being similar to another node.js hosting service provider. I am glad that there is
