That's like saying European tourists who visit only NYC and SanFran and stay in posh hotels aren't seeing the real America. There are many faces to China, and the expat life is one of them.

If Bill Joy is indeed the most qualified, why does it matter who recommended him? It seems natural that Doerr would make Joy a partner since Doerr thinks so highly of him.

Maybe 90% of resumes are crap, but I believe everyone has some potential, even if their resume is crap. I certainly hope that's not how one views their friends, coworkers, employees, children, neighbors, etc.

We each get to start where the greatest minds before us ended. Disagree. Pretty soon, you're going to have to spend 40 years in specialized schooling just to even try to understand where the giants before us went , let alone ended. Human

Shoeboxes are horrible. They're not fire-safe, not waterproof, difficult to secure, difficult to distinguish, easy to spill and easy to crush. Get a safe and dump things in there.

I vote that it's implied name calling... "did you even think about what you just wrote" is basically calling someone stupid. Not literally, of course, but semantically it is. But I thought it was funny, no rude.

I've only ever used Thinkpads (from T20 to T61) and now am on MBP. The TPs are definitely built sturdier. I used to carry them in a very flimsy backpack and all of the TPs weathered that fine. That being said, after I bought my MBP, I bough
