Amen. I think the mistake is to reach for the complicated patterns first. Rather than refactoring later when it’s obvious they are needed to simplify your code.

We see UpUp as a piece of our overall fraud strategy. We lend $35,000 vehicles to renters without meeting them in person. Often we are up against very determined bad actors. What we have found is that if you make a fraudsters job a little b

At Fetch[0] we built UpUP as an internal tool to help us authenticate high-risk transactions. As we scaled we started experiencing a high volume of fraud from multiple vectors: meth rings, carders, identity thieves, etc. We started to manua

You're assuming a lot of things. 1) That jail time will prevent long term future victims (it won't) 2) That jail will rehabilitate him (it won't) 3) That being compassionate will cause him to commit more crimes. In this case

An uneducated person doesn’t think of themself as “uneducated”. They view it as having a different set of experiences that has led them to a different truth. A truth that you won’t be able to understand because of all of your “education”.

It seems we are headed to not using words with more than one meaning if one is unpleasant. No room for nuance these days.

Okay, you got me, he didn't self censor but he was talking about considering self censoring and chose not to. QED no one has ever self censored out of fear of reprisal.
