That's not from a lack of sleep. If you want to build strength and muscle, do less aerobic exercise and eat more - a lot more. You need to be in a caloric surplus for a while.

Your comment makes me feel old. I travelled in my early 20s ('90s-early 2000s) with no phone or internet available anywhere. There was a lot more mystery and discovery involved. You didn't know everything ahead of time. There were

I used to get messages when I posted about remote work. People wanted to know how to get started, which companies to apply to and so forth. Many people don't write back once I explain that I do enterprise Java development for BigCo. An

Many people are surprised to learn that Linux (and I guess some of the BSDs?) have a virtual machine that runs in the kernel and executes its own specific bytecode. LLVM has a BPF backend, as mentioned in this article.

To pay for my nice computer science education, I worked in mine exploration and later a working mine. > Another thing I'd say is that with farming (and other manual labor activities) there is very little that is not known beforehand

Beef cattle only spend the last few weeks of their lives on feedlots. Otherwise, they are grazing. You should visit a working ranch/farm sometime.

To be fair, Tolkien explicitly set out to create a Northern European pre-history or mythology. I am not sure if he even considered non-European readers as his audience. A good parallel might be the love many Westerners have for anime.

Fair point, but to be honest nearly all modern work is borderline dystopic, regardless of how "important" it's deemed by society. If you think being a programmer in BigOrg, Inc. sucks, then take a summer and work on a constru
