I assume by "...in Sweden", you are implying Stockholm gets fierce winters. But it doesn't really. It gets a lot of sun (comparatively) and not much snow. I was wondering about real snowfall accumulation.

Greenhouses depend on at least some sunshine to stay warm, as mentioned in the article. If it's snowing, it isn't sunny, and if the snow piles up, then you have trouble. Around here, it's not unusual to get half a metre of sn

I also recommend the book Who We Are and How We Got Here by geneticist David Reich, whose group made a lot of these DNA-based discoveries in population genetics and ancient human migrations.

It sounds like we pretty much eat the same way, although I also eat a lot of eggs. Every Sunday, I make a huge beef/random meat stew and eat it all week, sometimes three meals a day. I put it into glass containers and freeze them.

That's simply untrue. Climbing technology is fundamentally unchanged from the early '80s. Since then it's been a process of refinement, with the big exception of shoe technology. I acknowledge that TC Pros are tremendous shoe

I spent part of my childhood in a similar place in far northern BC. The north-south orientation of the valley we were in prevented much winter sun from hitting the town. On top of that, there was an asbestos mine nearby and sometimes when t

No offence, but if you’ve never worked in the particular cult-like pressure cooker that is Big Tech, then you can’t relate. The article was not about culture shock.

In Canada, you can pay for a whole variety of things, from imaging (to reference your MRI examples) to day surgeries. I've done both. In fact, I paid for a shoulder MRI just last year and only had to wait a few days.

Fully agree. This company is located near me and does this now: https://carbonengineering.com/ I’m not sure about the specifics of this new Prometheus startup or if their process is different.

This is a great summary of how to live a long time, except I sleep more (8-9 hours, but I am also very active). One thing I'd add is: avoid stress whenever possible. Learn perspective and don't sweat the small stuff.

I grew up in a very small, isolated place in northern BC. Power was produced by a diesel locomotive engine up on blocks that ran 24/7. Except when it didn't, normally in the dead of the very long winter.

In the US, beef production accounts for about 2.6% of GHG emissions. Most beef eaten in North America was raised there. If you are from these regions, reducing meat consumption won't help the Amazon or much else. Note that the issues w
