I believe it is a bit too much to call the article nonsense. The process described mirrors what we have been doing in Machine Learning for a long time: You setup a training set and validation set, put it through system under test and draw c

I really hope we don't get a new version of the "You cannot view this webpage because you are in the EU", this time for LLMs.

That's what I thought throughout the article. I wonder if it is a typo or the author is confused about East and West?

That works both ways. Imagine that they had regulated the internet as it was starting to appear in the 90s? It actually happened in a small way here in Portugal. They regulated the .pt domain in such a restrictive way that it became irrelev

We, in Europe, are jumping the gun way too soon and this will have serious consequences to the industry, here. At this moment we barely understand how or why LLMs do what will be their role in society. Why is it that some bureaucrats want t

At least I have an anecdote that produces a large percentage of the beef and dairy consumed in Portugal. I fail to see proper data from anyone else showing the contrary elsewhere.

Pretty much all the beef production is done in grazing fields as it is cheaper and less work. It is only the bulk up that is done in feed lots (1-3 months before going to the abbatoir). There is even pasture finished beef production where c

I live in a very small island where the main industry has been cattle (meat and milk production) for several decades. If the urine of the cows was toxic, the island would have been deserted a long time ago. It is as green as it has ever bee

Yes, that I recall reading about, there were even competing DC grids and AC grids. I think Edison's was DC.

The point is that we know many things as facts that we cannot explain. We may be looking for the explanation but, as of yet, we don't know why many things are as they are (as in the example above). Actually, LLMs are also a good exampl

There is a compromise that you can do if you are short for time. Buy a bread maker with a timer. You add the ingredients before going to bed and it will bake overnight and will be ready in time for breakfast. It is not the same thing as ha
