I thought Bach was relatively obscure till Mendelssohn promoted his music to a new generation? Anyhow, there are many many great composers from different genres, and if you consider the aim to be communication (rather than the quality of th

Confronted with the same sort of problem, I ended up with Capture One and couldn't be happier. There are other options out there, which you should definitely explore.

The point is that stealing has traditionally meant denying the rightful owner the thing that has been stolen. What is going on here is that a copy has been made without permission - piracy is copyright infringement, this is different to ste

Agreed. If you stick to the 'smart and gets things done' mantra when hiring, lots of things like 'better skills' are trumped by the idea that if they are smart, they'll pick up the skills they need.

It's best to just think of it as a different art form. B&W film photography + darkroom printing is an art form, as is digital photography + photoshop. These modern AI assisted digital photography methods are another art form, one w

As recently as the 1970s I remember the Rag and Bone man who used to trade in the streets around where my grandparents lived. He used a horse and cart, and was mainly collecting metal. This would have pre-dated the council refuse collection

I think this is the point - each design team and company bet on what they believe their hardware is likely to need to perform. The performance vs power consumption trade off is really tricky when you have to guess what the software landscap

Looking at this history of this problem, it first appeared with the adoption of focal plane shutters, which appeared widely with Leica 35mm cameras, and is a technology used by most SLRs. I know of earlier examples, the Speed Graphic large

It really depends on your kitchen, and the sort of cooking you do. There's definitely been a trend towards disposable kitchen equipment in the pro kitchens, no longer do you see chefs with carbon steel knives, but cheap stainless knive

Having been all over the apple range over the years, the M1 Max Macbook Pro i'm currently using has been I would say the best of their laptops since the original G4 Powerbook. A couple of years into ownership of this machine, and it&#x

When i've employed people, I tend to be focussed on their ability to get stuff done, and being responsive to requests, especially external users of the system. Hours spent at the desk is just a proxy for the above, and there are better
