I think you can do better than this void* type this equivalent - if you consider what is happening with FILE* when you use stdio.h, you have basically a class interface, and i'd follow this pattern. There is no reason to use void*, cre

I don't think this is quite right. What I believe is going on is that different generations have different battles they are fighting, different tech that they are comfortable with. How i'm reading it is the author is fighting agai

Having worked with Quants before, the reality is that however big your compute farm, they will want more. I think this is what is going on with these large AI companies - they are simply utilising all of the resource they have. Of course th

Given how much music is available via streaming services, for little money (or none if you can deal with adverts) i'd have thought the impact of a pirate music site would be very limited. I wonder what the impact of this site is on Son

Well, if it isn't covered, then you can take it out, and see what breaks (nothing) and then discover in production why it was there :) But yes, it's basically what the job comes down to - having a strategy for managing complexity

Well, let's say you are working on a well engineered and tested product, and you look at the code coverage, and there's a whole lump of functionality that has no coverage. You could conclude that the code is unnecessary and remove

Instruments like this normally boot from a read only image, so even if you have root access to the box you can't do anything bad to it, well, nothing that won't disappear on reboot. On my Siglent scope (an SDS2104X plus) you can e

I rather liked the MZ-80K, having spent a bit of time with it as a kid in the early 80s. I was attending a prep boarding school, for kids from 8 through 13 (can't imagine anyone sending their kids to boarding school aged 8 any more! Ho

The prioritisation has changed. Opening apps is slower, starting new documents/views within the apps is fast. With enough RAM you just keep all the apps you are using running and switch between them. I've not started an app so far

Agreed, logging in config retrieval code should log all this stuff, requests, where they are filled from, that sort of thing. The problems with this approach when it's enabled is that log aggregators (e.g splunk) can end up including s

I think selinium toning is like this, and that's definitely in the dubious stuff you really don't want to get on your skin category. The prints do look gorgeous after selinium toning though! And I agree, fibre paper is awesome but

You don't need a darkroom for film development. A changing bag and some light proof tanks allow for this. To develop 5 4 or larger large format film (for contact printing) you need light proof trays, or you can use a 5 4 adapter for a

Right, the 68k was the most logical step up from the early 8 bit processors in typical home computers (except for the TI99/4a which went in another direction). They were easy to design for, and easy to program (68k assembler is pretty
