Because Chainguard cost an arm and a leg.

Since we started paying for Chainguard I’ve become super sold on the benefits of minimal and continually patched images. It’s just a shame that the open source community only gets to benefit from the limited free library DHI and Chainguard

The “reverse centaur” is a natural product of capitalism wanting workers to be as replaceable as possible in order to drive down wages. An ordinary “centaur” is counter to companies’ goals, they don’t want workers empowered.

It’s hard to feel any enthusiasm for democracy watching things you disagree with being pushed through and having no power to stop it. I signed the petition to reverse the OSA and all we got was a canned response. I’ve come to the conclusion

Please declare if your blog post is written with AI, don’t launder AI words as your own, you just make yourself look like a fraud. We can tell.

Moreover why isn't the bug fixed already? I thought programmers were obsolete now. Surely one of the leading AI labs has figured out full automation of software development end-to-end by now if that's so.

I see Proxmox blog post I upvote. I’ve also been wanting a setup like this but don’t have to courage to use pve-microvm. First class microVM support would be very nice.

I'm curious what GCHQ make of all this. Increased VPN usage will reduce their visibility into internet traffic. They can try to force VPN providers to implement ID checks but if the provider is overseas it's not so easy to get tha

Most VPN providers are purely profit-driven enterprises, they don't give a shit about privacy. There are only a handful that would turn away UK business instead of requiring ID.

You’re assuming that powerful models will eventually run on consumer potato hardware. That isn’t guaranteed. My intuition says that we’ll never be able to pack Opus or GPT-level intelligence small enough to run on a standard consumer laptop

I'm in favour of sending as much data as possible to DeepSeek for them to train on. I'd happily zip up everything useful I have and send it to them if they asked for it.

Ensure you're hitting the DeepSeek provider via OpenRouter - they have the massive cached tokens discount. If you're hitting any other provider you're paying an order of magnitude more.

Git as a data structure is clever, but Git as a CLI is atrocious.

What even was the point of this product? Why spend time developing this in the face of all the reliability and performance issues?

OpenRouter should be penalising or banning for this.

In my org everyone is extremely Claude-pilled to the point you’d think it’s the only LLM that exists, purely because it caters to non-engineers within enterprises.

Yes, a country should want to keep out people with negative fiscal impact and bring in people with a positive fiscal impact. Isn’t that obvious? By all means bring in people to run businesses in Japan. Legitimate businesses, not visa mills.

It’s not rich to recognise your own ship is sinking and want others to save themselves from sinking theirs. I truly love Japan and the last thing I want is the same cultural dilution to happen here. Deport me if that’s what it takes. Japan

As a Brit living in Japan (non-resident) I think they should protect themselves at all costs, lest what happened to my country happen to theirs. If the business visa was abused, that abuse should be stopped, not just allowed to happen like

When the OSA came into force I checked the iOS App Store and the top 10 apps in the UK at the time were all dodgy free VPNs. This legislation is utterly idiotic. I'm sick of this government, they won't be getting my vote in the ne

It’s not meant for subscription users; the subscriptions are just the gateway drug to Enterprise pricing which Anthropic intends to use to juice their numbers before IPO.

Darwin namespaces would be much more interesting and we are in dire need of them in the current security landscape. I don’t really understand the hype for Apple’s Containerization, it’s just another container runtime alongside many others.

My employer is all in on Anthropic via Enterprise (API) pricing despite it being a total scam. Last month I pushed like <100M tokens for $800. On a personal project I pushed 600M tokens via DeepSeek V4 for $10. The pricing of SOTA models

IIRC 4chan was indirectly responsible for his death. An anon bought him a drum kit and Terry annoyed his parents with it, to the point that there was a heated argument and I believe violence. After that, they kicked him out of the house and
