Eh. It’s pretty terrible on mobile, though. I can’t read or click anything without zooming and a page load for each directory resets the zoom. I would say the content isn’t really relevant for mobile users but the images themselves actually

As a regular user of the DC metro for about five years, I can say that rule is often enough ignored. Overall the system is impressively clean and people generally do not eat or drink on the trains, but hop on after like 9pm and it’s a very

This is a solid explanation. It also makes me wonder, why even use GitHub at a certain point? It seems like GH is a one-size-fits-all approach and the primary reason to use it is to get _more_ issue, PRs, etc. in your project. But once you

In my case I tried out GitHub Sponsors because it seemed pretty frictionless (and was!). If I were more concerned about soliciting donations I’m sure I would look at and probably use other platforms but in my case it’s just a small nicety.

I also recently received a first $5 donation on an OSS project I created and have been supporting since 2017. It was a really pleasant surprise and motivated me to spend a bit more time on the project to move through some bug fixes and feat

Yep. This. I use a couple of different services (primarily Apple Maps and HERE maps) interchangeably _when I know where I am going_. But when I don’t know where I am going (e.g. looking for a type of store or restaurant or whatever) I use G

I wonder — is an iOS user worth any more or less to an advertiser than an Android user? I assume more — maybe even a lot more. Would adjusting shares to reflect that make Apple’s share look more significant (thus the major marketing push by

Off topic aside — I have never seen such complex GitHub issue templating[0]. It’s neat. What made me look at was the fact that this FR ticket has the line: > How the feature would be relevant to at least 90% of Homebrew users That seems

Yes, definitely! But in my defense, it is simply not what I tapped out (: I was trying to think of a regular program I use on my macOS (work) laptop that doesn’t connect to the Internet “unexpectedly” and I came up blank.

Sure. I totally agree. That statement was in response to this from OP though: > When you run software, you do not expect (sic) "unexpected" Internet use. When I run software, I _do_ expect unanticipated Internet use. That’s why

I didn’t mean to imply that one could not name programs that don’t communicate. Of course they exist. I’m not arguing for this type of behavior, just pointing out that it is pretty much the norm. On macOS I use Little Snitch to find and shu

I absolutely agree with that. And I have experienced a similar issue with my laptop from time to time. It is pretty dumb and seems like poor implementation. I don’t think that is relevant to OPs argument though.

That seems incredibly naive. I can’t think of a single program off the top of my head that doesn’t use the Internet to some extent while running. Even many CLI tools I use for development do update checks (and sometimes analytics) in the ba

Do general tracking blockers and mainstream lists block GTM though? I use a massive combined listed on a pi-hole so not sure which one it comes from. Just curious as there are, theoretically, non-invasive, non-ad tracking use cases for GTM.

Looks interesting -- however much of the app does not work if www.googletagmanager.com is blocked. Is that necessary to the functionality or just an oversight?
