Could cohort based on geo-location instead of completely at random. Makes analysis a bit more challenging though and doesn't completely solve the problem of course.

haven't been able to get enough Haruki Murakami (fiction). If you haven't read any of his books try either Norwegian Wood or Kafka On The Shore. Kafka is my favourite book of all time but Norwegian Wood is a close second. Serious
