That's just about the worst excuse I've ever heard for unethical conduct. In my mind, this is the equivalent of "I trashed your house, peed on your couch and stole your wine cellar to show you how important a axe proof front door is."

It seems that Doubletwist is doing just that, and I think that hthey're going through iTunes' api, so it seems to just work from version to version. Either that or they're doing a fine just keeping up to date on things.

That's an incorrect number. If you look at the open source code on the internet, it hovers around 47% to 48% (with a greater than 2b unique project lines sample. About 22% are lgpl, though, so maybe that's what you meant.

My wife had a mac from that era and it was toast. I got it running again with a logic board from the same model which I found in the back room of weird stuff for $20. I love that back room. We got the data off and now I have the data backed

Which part? The only thing I found cogent was his assertion that he, as the author of the software, gets to pick the license, and if you don't like it you can go and write your own code. I think it is actually a mistake to think that a reci

During the GPLv3 drafting process, we joked that GPLv2 became perfect only once GPLv3 was published. I have to agree. I've been dealing with these issues since 1997 or so for companies big and small, and the gpl keeps things...interesting.

This denies that Android runs on top of Linux, which is licensed under the gpl. Or that the Google search appliance runs on a ton of gpl'd code, all mirrored off of code.google.com...

If you haven't tried out the chromium nightly desktop builds, they're actually quite nice. The team is still nailing down the plugins, but the browser itself is wicked fast and pretty stable (given its alpha nature)

I gotta tell you, I've worked with Donna Sokolsky Burke across at least 2 companies, and she's really very good at what she does. It's very handy to have someone like her to deal with the many many inquiries you'll get at a successful start

My first job in the Silicon Valley was on the Himalayas doing QA. They were awesome machines. QA meant pulling drives and cpus in the middle of processing, browning out/cutting power, etc.. it was wonderfully destructive :-)

Did Nasdaq get rid of the hp/tandem nonstop backends then? I don't think they did. As of 2008 they were still running them. They might have windows frontends and middle ware, though.

It's not so out of hand as all that. Chromium/chrome 3 dev and Firefox 3.5 are all already there or so close as to basically be there. Safari is very close, but the codec story isn't super clear. Microsoft could be closer, but ...they're al
