How do you guys time this? Whether napping or sleeping it often takes me at least 30 mins to even fall asleep lol (sometimes longer). I will say though that I do get a good 9 hours sleep 95% of nights, so I haven't often felt a need to

Oh man this post is spot on LOL. Man, with PC games you have forums so that's great for communicating, but with mobile it seems like there's generally a disconnect between developer and player. The system, while great to have, doe

Looks cool! I have a somewhat related question for anyone who works on tools/frameworks (for iOS I guess)... is it a pain to deal with iOS versions, ARC/non-ARC, and anything else? I was reading the quick start guide here and I no

His point about web vs iOS vs Android hit home with me. I've been a pure iOS developer for several years now, but the constant nag on me is to support Android. I assume it's the same for people that know the Android side. Unfortun

Man I wish I still had mine. My luck with my Nintendo consoles has been pretty bad lol: - I sold my Super Nintendo in high school for $20. What the hell was I thinking... - My sister took my N64 to someone's house many years ago and I

Same with me lol. Only have an account for developer purposes since I have to put it in every app I work on haha.

It's weird when you realize how much stuff that seems organic is really just a massive ploy/effort by a company or PR firm. I think even Paul Graham had an article about PR firms related to the comeback of the 'suit' hah

Has it changed much since the first year or so? I was pretty big in that community but the reality was the editor was too difficult for most people and the popularity system ended up creating a cyclical loop of the same maps (ie similar to

Yeah I miss that RTS golden age haha. SC/War3 custom maps too man! You'd think there'd be way more awesome RTS's for tablets, given the controls can work so well. The situation right now seems to be kind of stuck between

This is an interesting question! I've come across the thought myself from time to time... usually have to end up creating objects/structs to then return, though in the past when I've been lazy (on iOS) I've chunked thing

Random unrelated hilarious moment: When I finished reading, I looked at the other articles linked below, and one of the images used was randomly from my flickr page (of my gf) hahaha. Such a weird moment to see that, considering the image o

I find the opposite with iOS/Apple programming. Often I'll be looking for something on Stack Overflow only to find the true answer lurking somewhere in one of Apple's guides or example apps lol. But if there's a Stack Ov

This should apply to games too lol. I hope one day we can rid the world of the 'load screen'! Perhaps with more SSDs and developers putting effort into streaming (both from net and hard-drive), it'll be possible ;)

Vancouver (Canada) has a similar problem to SF. I think it's the climate, since compared to the rest of Canada it is quite mild. I think the causes here are different though, and mostly drug related, but someone with more knowledge can

I love my new Retina MBP, however the most annoying thing I found was dealing with so many non-retina things that look hideously blurry lol. I don't have a problem with the screen though, but weirdly enough in the last year or so I

Yeah, running ads with a paid app is a losing battle it seems like. Even with a free app, it's going to be tough because your app has to then make more per user than you spend on ads (this is the whole Zynga, Clash of Clans, etc model)

I think the crap gaming (from our perspective) situation is there for a few reasons. 1. Mobile wasn't taken as seriously by AAA devs, and now when they try and break off to make something for iOS, it's drowned out by: 2. The horde

It's tough to decide, but don't hesitate to be over 99 cents. People will pay for quality, but look at similar games and their costs. If your game is a 2D puzzle game, you don't want to be priced with Call of Duty etc... Also

Not the author but I thought I should chime in here. The app store is a difficult beast these days... being free means you get a lot more downloads, but you need 100's of thousands (if not millions) of users to make any decent amount o
