I agree with you 100%. Most political talking points on sites like Reddit (and even HN) are just platitudes. The problem is they've been repeated so often that even questioning something is ground for a public tar and feathering. We ca

Do both. Remote work is a thing and it's what my wife and I are currently doing. We have 9 acres and have many agricultural plans on the horizon.

I drink alcohol once per week, give or take. I drank a bottle of wine on Saturday and it didn't bump me out of Ketosis. You have 50 carbs to spare typically without completely exiting. A bottle of wine is about 20-25. Liquor has 0 carb

Ah, gotcha. I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth. But I think it does happen frequently (and not just in software development). Certainly if I were faced between not providing for my family and dying my hair / getting botox

You can have alcohol. I follow a ketogenic diet and regularly drink liquor and wine. Wine has carbs, but not a lot. ~4 grams per 5 ounces.

I think plenty of people take this route. There are stories from SV about middle-aged men who undertake cosmetic surgery to look younger, so it's not a stretch that some people would do what you're saying. However, what you'r

I use Trello as well. It actually helped quite a bit launching my current endeavor, as I picked what as the MVP at the beginning. I had a "For Launch" column in addition to the ones you mentioned. It kept me focused when my brain

I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) the advantage of a Roth is that you're paying the tax on a much smaller amount at entry than you are at exit. For example: - I deposit $4000 into my Roth IRA this year. - This was post-tax inc

There were fewer students, fewer colleges, and lower enrollment rates. A big reason why college costs have risen is due to the artificial demand created by subsidized loans.

I had never heard that acronym before but that makes complete sense. I suppose that you _do_ want the best launch you can muster, but it isn't make or break.

This is the kind of feedback I hoped I would get. And you're right, I can launch new versions of the product as time goes on. I've been working in a black box so far and need to get customer feedback.

You'll notice in this thread that (at 9 comments in) there are no repeated recommendations. If the question was "What are some good reads for learning about algorithms?" you'd probably see the same handful of books being

Perhaps for simple plumbing jobs (like the ones you mention). However, things are rarely so easy once you start actually working. Like with most things, being skilled at plumbing is being able to handle the edge cases. And trust me, plumbin

I've seen very conflicting information when it comes to how dangerous unprocessed milk actually is. Many people argue that the ultra-bad bacteria is a result of the processing itself (homogenization of milk from hundreds of cows in a s

Cow's milk from the store expires in the manner it does due to the processing. Raw milk eventually turns into yogurt, but is still consumable (and delicious, imo). I'd say they froze the milk in question though, just thought I

If I were to guess, the results lag behind the prevalence. It takes many years for someone to get cancer. If you were to push back the graph by 20 years it may correlate strongly. Edit: Also, the U.S. banned asbestos in 1989. That's th

All fluid modeling at least. I once worked for a company that built heat exchanger simulations. I spent limited time in Fortran but was able to successfully integrate some C++ and C# libraries. The language isn't bad at all.
