I was just talking with a coworker about Crystal and didn't know of any web frameworks with it. Also didn't know about Crystal 'shards'. Thanks for linking these.

I used to work for a company Zillabyte that had a lot of web data. Mostly marketers and sales people were looking for lead generation. Let's say you work for Mixpanel, and you want to know all the websites out there with Kissmetrics

I have yet to speak with anyone who thinks Snapchat's valuation is realistic and that their business model will sustain them. When I see this I just think of Twitter all over again. I would love to hear arguments supporting Snapchat th

It's still a valid criticism. Unless you've had to do random things like write compilers and write/analyze algoritms every day there are going to be lots of things covered in school that most of us just don't do while pr

I've heard of junior engineers making anywhere from $60k - $110k, usually on the higher end of that range. Personally, I wouldn't live in San Francisco itself. I live in Alameda (quiet small island life ftw) and that lets me save

It's kind of weird to say "Don't link to that offensive term, link to this offensive term instead". Just strikes me as oddly politically correct but not really at the same time.

As long as you have an option when you leave (another job) I say go for it. People always think this sounds a bit...grim.. but you're going to die anyways. You should enjoy your life. Making sure you have a safety net is a good idea, b

It depends on how you define "coding". Coding can be basic. Programming and software engineering are far more involved. When I'm talking to bootcamp students I find that many of them refer to themselves as "coders"

Yeah I got rid of my accent years ago when I realized that stigma existed. I also try to sound...less gay (idk how else to explain it) when I'm dealing with new people. Deeper voice, neutral accent, etc. It's pretty annoying to h

Snapchat doesn't have a good way to monetize their user base though. It's probably going to be a difficult problem for them, especially with their inflated valuation. More power to them if they can pull it off though.

I would also add that it can differentiate between a manager and a leader. Managers can just handle process, but a leader needs to have deeper understanding of individuals and teams. I've met plenty of managers who definitely weren
