Having just gone through what you're feeling, I can tell you that it's totally fine. It takes time to ramp up in any company. Working with a code base with the sort of complexities you're going to encounter just adds to the

Having come from a nontechnical background (a degree in hotel management) and made my way into the industry, the fastest way to me is to just start learning. I assume she has no idea what she really wants to do in the field anyways, so she

https://freecodecamp.com looks pretty good. Takes you from html/css through javascript, has some algorithm challenges which are pretty fun. Worth checking them out

I swear the media has a bias too. So many articles are bashing encryption lately. I wish I could do more to fight misinformation and general ignorance than posting on my Facebook though. Ideas?

At my work we have a Devops Hour class that covers high level topics, typically has take-aways and homework if you want to do it (with a fabulous prize so yay incentive). I would say setting up a server and deploying your apps to it would

I've tried dating non-technical people and this experience sums it up: My friend and I are white boarding algorithm challenges for fun, having nerd talk. My boyfriend says, "I'm going to play video games while you guys do ner

If they bent over backwards for older people it wouldnt be ageism. It would be about respecting "experience" and the old boys club. Sure its not ok to be rude, but this is also a product of showing that things have changed.

How large would your offices have to be to realistically accommodate a team of people using these desks? They look neat to me but I can't imagine buying them because of the spacial concerns alone.

Absolutely true. I just got a junior dev job and a lot of the process was evaluating if i'm the type of person they want on their team, but with a solid knowledge base to build off of.

This is why I'm doing my best to hunker down. It's not that I expect a crash anytime soon, but I like to be prepared. Sadly I fall on the junior end of the engineering spectrum, so I have a lot of network to build and knowledge

Articles like this make me love my 2000 Subaru even more. I'm gonna hate getting a newer car one day, but maybe by then manufacturers will better secure their cars.
