I'm just trying to live on it. I find the entire concept of using a fundamentally scarce resource like land to generate profit by being a middle-man perverse.

I had a TC1000 with the Crusoe. In tasks like web browsing it was quite slow but it was surprisingly performant in games. I remember being shocked that I could play Star Trek: Bridge Commander with all the settings cranked up.

Are there any other possessions subject to an unlimited amount of tax? Arguably you don't own land, you just rent it from the government. However, logically speaking, you should only be paying tax based on the value of the ground and n

I really wish the Hacker News Enhanced extension would add keyword story filtering. I'm tired of hearing about how Steve Jobs was a genius and I'm tired of hearing about how he was a loony dickhead. I'd love to go the rest of

The Eve Theory of Consciousness proposed that consciousness is recent, women were self-aware first, and agriculture was the result. Any biologists or anthropologists care to chime in on whether that's obviously wrong or not? The auth

Writing code gets faster but programs get slower. Sometimes I wonder what a modern desktop would be capable of if every piece of code was written in assembly with as much care and purposefulness as, say, an Atari game.
