Or any other philosophy, where nihilism is the absence of either. In other words, religion is wonderful for those for whom it works; the same goes for existentialism (our meaning comes from within) or really literally anything else that get

I generally consider myself a nihilist, but only because it's the very last stop on the bus ride of my failed attempts at religion and other philosophies. I grew up very religious and when I lost my faith in my 20s, I tried to replace

Physics layman, but I agree as a computer scientist. It also sometimes feels like there are "optimizations", e.g., delayed-choice quantum erasure ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed-choice_quantum_eraser )

I use KSUIDs a ton in DynamoDB; it saves me from having to create and fill another index to sort items by creation time. The only case where I don't use them is if I don't want to create time of the item to be known to the user.

I went from waking up at 6AM every day for 6 years (US mil) to not setting an alarm in the last 6 (remote employee). The main thing I notice in the rare event where I have to set an alarm these days is this 15-30 minutes of heavy brain fog

First off, no one is going to argue beyond/impossible meat is necessarily healthy, but these two brands (currently leading the artificial meat market) contain just a small percentage of the isoflavones content found in soy-based produc

This argument makes zero sense. If we didn't breed cows, they wouldn't exist. There are no wild cows.

Just speculation (I am not a physicist or astrobiologist), but this is my thinking also. If anything is traveling between the stars, it's either inorganic (an AI), or it has a natural lifespan several orders of magnitudes longer than h

I'm curious if you're able to think of one non-selfish reason to have children? You mention having a child is an experience in which you wish to take part; you relish the thought of being less self-centered. Too little weight is g
