You miss my point the friction is often with colleagues (in addition to manager/employer) as the co-worker who is seeking a reduced workload often acts holier-than-thou with regards to needing someone to work more on their behalf, rath

The unfortunate fact is that if you’re a restaurant owner (putting aside ultra high-end for the moment) if you want to increase revenue, you can either turn tables faster or increase the check size, if you raise prices people either want hi

I think that this is actually one of the more compelling arguments that the threat of terrorism is overblown - there is literally 0 barrier to someone committing/attempting to commit these attacks - and yet they happen incredibly infre

You’re forgetting inflation and income taxes! If I had a $1b I would have to earn 5% + 2-3% a year just to break even - but if some portion of that 7-8% was income/capital gains than I would have to earn even more... and that’s befor

I’d rather we do a reverse split of the dollar - say 10:1 - 10 old dollars = 1 new dollar, essentially take us back to 1950’s pricing, coins become relevant again! + it has the added benefit of undoing all the changes in laws/refs that

By that measure most of Silicon Valley is not “rewarding”. While reasonable people can debate HFT’s benefit to society and resource use, how does HFT raise barriers of entry to markets?

I’ve been using Gnucash for my personal finances for a several years now, and really love it - it’s not dead simple, and requires an understanding of double entry bookkeeping, but where it really shines is flexibility. A couple of examples
