I don't know if the authot reads this, but I'm pretty sure they got the index wrong by creating a multicolumn index as opposed to two indexes. https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/indexes-multicolumn..

Even when it's a reasonably developed country (Italy) and when they are spanking new cobblestones can get slippery when it rains, they are noisier, and they are absolutely horrible on a road bike.

Having people be this rich is a problem, though: periods of time where the wealth is superconcentrated have never been good for anyone, the economy slows down, because the superrich never consume in proportion with what they have, there is

While I was reading the post I had the opposite thought: isn't this some kind of Ehrenfest model? It shouldn't be too hard to formalize with pen and paper.

You don't need to have a very high average. It's sufficient to have a high wet bulb temperature for a few days to kill off large portions of the population. Also consider that Africa is going to represent most of the demographic g

It's not like we're going to have any choice in the matter. Vast regions of the world are quickly becoming uninhabitable both because of climate change and of the damage done during colonialism and its political consequences. We c

Is the midpoint between 20k and 80k 40k or 60k? Is the midpoint between 10k and 1M 100k or 505k? I think intuitively when the span is large we easily reason in logarithms even with little math training.
