The problem is their definition of “do your own research.” This problem is probably largely unavoidable because, human nature. But it’s made markedly worse by what has clearly been a long term, mass scale failure of the education system to

Unfortunately I don’t think most people are capable nor motivated enough to adopt this policy.

True BUT the best fantasy obeys some laws of physics so things feel real and more exciting. It’s the execution of the shot, not the content of the shot that’s the problem.

Agreed, they’re consistently excellent on all issues. One minute you’re learning about Chinese domestic policy, the next you’re going deep on advances in particle physics. And they’re underrated for their humour —- occasionally there’s a bo

I used to be a big news consumer. Eventually canceled my NYT sub and quit all national news, except when something major is happening or when I’m about to vote. I read The Economist because it’s one of the last excellent publications and it

This is what I had, and my one frustration is having such little data to suggest how this regime (mixing mRNA vaccines and long interval between doses) will or won’t perform over time.

I had Pfizer for first dose and Moderna for second (Canada did a lot of vaccine mixing). Hard to isolate variables but I was almost totally fine after first dose but completely demolished with side effects of second dose for 36 hrs.

You’re absolutely right. My partner works in VFX and this is precisely his beef with Marvel movies and a lot of the other box-office-optimized schlock that’s out there these days: zero respect for the physical rules of reality. You can give

This is a wonderful response. Love the notion of reading until something violates your understanding of the world, I’m definitely going to try this. Is there any more satisfying feeling than ingesting a new, worldview-changing idea? I can a

Anecdotally I have two friends who have the same. One got so bad they were hospitalized for quite awhile and had to take close to a year off of work while lingering in a very precarious state of recovery. Both in their 30s.

I totally agree, and yet for most white collar jobs there's no binary done/not done. You can always be doing more, creating more, proactively leading things, planning ahead, suggesting new initiatives. When we start competing on t

Hi Peter, thanks for doing this! I’m a Canadian with lots of marketing experience in tech, at a senior leadership level. Is there any hope for someone in this capacity to move to the US? Are H1B and L1 really the only options? Thanks!
