Poe is owned by Quora, make of that what you will. It is easier to get the images you want with ChatGPT and Dalle. Plus ChatGPT comes with the analytics tool. Personal opinion but SDXL is not the greatest right out of the box as a text to i

I think maybe you have to go back further. 20 years ago. Companies seemed to care about building great products, stronger vision, more open web, engineering mattered etc etc. Now it seems the tech world is only about making money and increa

Is the problem more fundamental? Investor controlled/focused businesses are just bad for users and companies in the long run? Especially if investors have short term goals. Some of the easiest ways to make more money is to squeeze the

Industrialization without regulation is bad. Industrial fish farming seems to be bad in general. Salmon farming feels like stealing from the poor to feed the rich in some ways. They use cheaper nutritious smaller fish that people eat direct

Depends on what you want to do. For writing and RPG style interactions some of the LLama 2 based models are pretty good. Beauty is, even the 13B models work in those cases. So it works reasonably well on consumer grade hardware.

I think this has been happening for a while. I got hit with a random suspension 4-6 months ago. Nothing important there, it was a personal test site and it was a free account. I think there was an option to appeal. Tried that but did not he

It seems to be happening everywhere. Give the worst product you can get away with while using marketing to get people to keep upgrading before they realize how bad the product is. While progressively lowering the quality of the product each

I would love to know other peoples opinion on this. But I am coming around to the idea that self hosted(atleast partially) might be cheaper and better if you are a single dev/a small team. The learning curve on the tools/hosting p

Lemmy.world also seems to be getting slammed. I am out of the loop, is this because of the reddit API change or did something else happen?

You might be thinking of a very different user base. I have been using discord for a while and even more so now(unfortunately) after the whole reddit thing. But normal users probably do not care about any of that. You literally have people

First off are you using a custom model or the default SD model? The default model is not the greatest. Have you tried controlnet? But yes SD can be a bit of a pain to use. Think of it like this. SD = Linux, Midjourney = Windows/MacOS.

Curious, midjourney does great art and cartoon/comic styles too. Not just realistic images. Most image AI tools are terrible with words. I am curious, what images did you try generating with midjourney?

I am curious, why don't you like centralization? It seems like no matter the crowd, people need centralization. Atleast to begin with, then they are ok breaking off into subgroups. Like what happened with reddit. You start on the popul

Check under Mode > Complete. I see it listed there but not under Mode > Chat. Also try curl -X GET https://api.openai.com/v1/models \ -H "Authorization: Bearer your-api-key" It is listed there for me.

It feels like this attitude has become pervasive and it is not always good. Sure supporting people is great, but the unfortunate reality is that most new ideas are bad. Recently I have been trying to find critical views around topics I am r

Don't a lot of companies invest/tie up with potentially upcoming companies/technologies? Wasn't OpenAI one of those investments? That investment seems to have paid off.

Numbers like this are really confusing. Ok there is an year on year decline of 7%. But how does that compare to previous years? Did they grow dramatically and now they are losing some steam? Or has it been declining for the last few years?

I am curious, do you block MS Edge? It has a grammar check for all input boxes that sends data to MS servers to check. Similar to what Grammarly does. MS also "helpfully" asks you if you want to use that enhanced grammar check in

Curious, isn't SEO the thing that ruined search to a big extent. A 1000 word article where the actual answer needs a fraction of that size. Or interesting content buried because it is not "SEO optimized". Or companies writing

The complexity that this article talks about was all built to solve a problem and in a lot of cases it does solve that problem. The problem might not exist for the author and a particular user and that is what makes the tech hard for them.
